But this wasn't supposed to be a Tali v. Miranda thread, they're both good characters, and they both have their fans. You don't have to knock one character to prove your a fan of another.
The original question posed by the thread was settled a while ago. Tali seems more popular than any other ME character.

It doesn't matter who's more popualr, Miranda was the better character.
You must have been playing some other version of the game than I did.
Every line Tali gave radiated emotion and personality. Miranda you had to dig deep to find some redeeming qualities, and even then didn't come close to making the effort worth it. Otherwise she came off rather flat. (pardon the pun.)
Tali just kept saying the same thing over, and over. She had no depth. Miranda has a personality and was the way she was for a reason. Tali was just annoying, and randomly just keep repeating the same thing over.
Did you *SEE* what she does at the end of the game if you go paragon? that was pretty cool, in my opinion.
Or how about her loyalty mission when you meet up with Niket? either way that goes was pretty cool.
Tali is a perfectly fine character, and so is Miranda. I've said it already and will do so again- I liked miranda more. Is all this arguing necessary? What the goal should be is to get all the characters back with a good story and chunk of time dedicated to them in the finale, so everyone can be satisfied. Why does it need to be a competition? Its just a game.

That's what we call: "An Opinion"
I find miranda to be very boring, and I pretty much listened to all she had to say, and her overly-sexualized body pretty much acted as a turn off to me.
Again, its all subjective.
now turn around and read what you just wrote...It's pretty clear it is subjective, hello, that is the very foundation of this thread, so what is the point of your response except stating the obvious???
Touchy, eh?
She came in saying it like it was fact, I was simply reitterating what has been said before, that being that these things are subjective.
She did not, she stated her opinion just like you. Also I'm not touchy at all, another of your assumptions fail, but it was funny how you assumed that she was stating fact and took immediate offense. Tali defense much???
Not touchy? Hmmm.
Ironic that you bash me for an "incorrect assumption" then make a false assumption that I took offense to what he/she said. I don't care, its an opinion, and the poster is entitled to say what he/she wants. I simply also made my opinion heard, which you took offense to (Oooh! Even more ironic!).
And to finish off this magnificent display of Irony, you continue to run around bashing Tali fan's opinions. Bravo, encore!
However, I posted that I did not find Miranda an intersting character, no once did I say "Tali is much better", and while yes, I do prefer Tali over Miranda, your assumption had no basis, and had it not been for luck, you would have wrong in calling my posts a "Tali defense" and you would have made a fool of yourself.
But make no mistake, it is not even a Tali defense to begin with. I don't like Miranda, that's all there is to it. I found most of the other squadmates to be better and have deeper back stories. So when in reality, I would say, Mordin, Garrus, Grunt, Jack, etc, are, in my opinion, all better, how is it a Tali defense?
Its not.
I simply did not care for Miranda.
But then again, its all subjective, right?

This.
So many people feel the need to knock another character in order to appreciate the character they like. You don't need to do that people. I'm a Tali fan, but I also enjoy all the other characters and I've also romanced all the other characters. I may enjoy Tali more, but that doesn't mean I automatically hate Miranda and declare her to be boring. Me liking Jack doesn't mean I think I should justify her not being psycho and put that title to Samara.
Whatever. That's what's going to happen whenever anyone mentions two NPCs in the same topic. It's like an automatic flame trap.

It makes you look pathetic otherwise.

And secondly, You call my argument immature, then you promptly ride away on your imaginary high horse to escape that fact you're wrong?

I love both of their stories, Tali's is a little more original from ME1, since she is an alien and we have to learn of their race. Miranda on the other hand, isn't that complex, we don't need to learn all about her race, because we are already living it.
Everyone loves Tali, hell I love the characer too, but I can't say which one is better then the other, because I like em both. Get rid of Jacob... boring character. I always get his face blasted in on my play through.
Edit...
Warning, below is jabber about character devulpment... you have been warned!
What I like about the two, are their personalities. Miranada brings the cold hearted distant feel. Tali brings the naive cute feel. To understand Miranda, you have go to play the loyalty mission, and I know we all have... I assume anyway. Her attitude towards her life, is that she is just a tool to be used. She wants more, but because no one is willing to give her more, she feels at home with her situation. What was it she said, something about wanting, or knowing where she fits in life? That to me, makes for strong characteer develupment. At first glance, she is a static character, but upon my second play through, I took her with me to defeat the last boss, she then becomes a develuping character, dependent on which choices you make. I'm going renegade for this one
Tali is just as great. Both had fathers who wanted more for them, but in all honesty, couldn't live up to their own expectations and fell down a dark path which they would never be able to fix for themselves. Tali has that cute, adorable, naive personaly. And the fact that we don't know what she looks like under there is a huge draw in, espicialy for the fans.
Tali is part of a family, The Flotila obviously, and she is lost everywhere else. Until, dun da dun dun, the heroic shepard swoops in and shows her that life in the galaxy isn't hiding in a shell, but being able to climb out of that shell stand up for what you believe and take risks. This comes to play more with her loyalty mission... although I just don't have the heart to chose any renegade options with her. She's too adorable. I mean what can I say that the knowing/sensative reader/listener doesn't know about her already? 4th playthrough... i'm gonna screw up the ME Universe so bad... my 360 will say WTF.
Like i said, I like them both

It depends on the kind of popularity, is it as a romance option or as a character overall. As a romance option, I prefer Miranda since my default Shepard is mix of paragon and renegade and tends to have more in common with her. I tend to see Tali as my Shepard's kid sister really than anything else due to Mass Effect 1. In Mass Effect 2, she's grown up but I still see her as a sister type for my Shepard.
I actually agree with some of that. I also think it kind of depends on my shep character. But i'm not saying that I want Bioware to change any of the schematics for ME3. As I posted above though, I like them both, I cna't choose one over the other.
