I know this is the wrong forum, but I don't have the post new topic button in the Spoilers forums.  Please move this mods.

Anyway, I was running around in Denerim, doing some quests, and came across a deserted building.

Long story short, it's full of blood mages, and they are kicking my ass.  I've finally hacked my way to the end, and wouldn't you know, now I'm really getting slaughtered.  The leader has a couple of the yellow name guys with him and I have yet to take out more than 1 of them before my entire party is killed.  It's hard, I don't know what to do, I don't think I'll be able to win, but this building randomly popped up, I'm worried that if I leave, it'll vanish just as quickly.  The thing that really kills me here is walking into the leaders room triggers a cutscene, I beat the rest of the groups by sneaking in with my rogue and luring the baddies toward the rest of my group and traps.  Unfortunately the cutscene bring all my NPC's into the room with me, grouped into a nice tight little formation that really bites when the blood mage leader immediately uses fireball and half of everyones life is gone.

So, anyone have any tips to vanquish my foes?
By the way, I've got my main Rogue dual-wielder. Alister, Sten and Morrigan.

I did this on normal.

2 mages, 1 tank and 1 rogue dps i didn't know how to use at that time.

Your mages do most of the work, atleast they did for me in almost all my fights, anyhow.

i used ''cease'' on the leader, the area will be filled with stuff on the ground and it will make them fall. then use fireball to light the cease. creating a AoE fire field and damage from the fireblast aswell, use your Tempest storm, fire storm, blizzard or any other major AoE spell on the leader, stack them. they will take damage over time and pretty much all but the leader will be alive at the end.

the 2 gaurds at the stairs might block your mage his way to get downstairs, so you need to manual run past them.

Croud control is your key in that fight.

Using 2 warriors in a mageheavy fight is not the smartest of moves... ;)

I'd switch Sten out for Wynne, ofc having a few aoe talented aswell as heals...

Using grease and fireball is ouch, aswell as Lightning Aoe *drains mana/stamina aswell as damages*

on the mages... If You play on easy nevermind the friendly fire, otherwise stay away from the aoe area, keep Alistair in the doorway/other bottlenecks tanking mages and others, keep him healed and let yer mages nuke the opposition, done deal.. ;)

1. Mana Clash -> LOL GG

2. Force Field the boss, Crushing Prison one of the other Mages -> GG

3. Run back out of the room, down the hall and into the large room, lure a few enemies to you. Then proceed to throw ranged attacks and spells down the hall and mop up. CC spells are welcome.

Did this on nightmare. 1 mage, not a healer. Rogue in stealth opens the door, mage casts blizzar/inferno/tempest or all of them. rogue initiates encounter, you run away, enemy mage suffers a bit in the aoe spells, then a wintergrasp, crushing prison and he should die within the duration. Ignore everyone else - mage MUST die fast. Ironically enough you cant beat mages without mages.

use FF or CoC on the mage to keep him out of the fight till he is the only one left

then get close and kick his butt

Yes, very good solutions guys, "bring 10 mages with you, problem solved".

Good design.

What if i killed Wynne, being evil character? Slit Zevrans throat, being most logical choice in the matter? Booted Leliana, because that goody 2-shoes couldnt stand the desecration of Ashes?

Anyway, get ready for some heavy action, you may want to lure those melee guys out of the room and hopefully kill one of them before mages get to you, then pop non-elite mage as soon as he shows his face, then just drink pots like mad and hack on the boss guy.

Having Morrigan fully specialized as healer helps a ton as well of course.

Have fun with the fight.

I just finished with the clearing the alleys of bandits before I did this. It was a couple of hours of AOE spam and hoping it killed them before it killed me. Very satisfying, though no real XP/loot gain.

Set a bunch of large claw traps in the room just before the boss. After the encounter, run back to the bedroom. Boss dies before he reaches the bedroom. Collect loot and exit.

I had to do the old lure trick. Room is too big for a Cone of Cold to lock them all down. Ambushing from two sides didn't work. I didn't have Wynne and Morrigan didn't have many CC spells. So I lured them one by one and jumped them outside the door until only the main guy was left with two lackeys. In rushed my dual wield warrior and stunned him, his lackeys went down fast thanks to Leliana and Alistair. I find mages go down damn quick if you stun them and then whale on them.
