Evidence:
  • She's topless in the art book (no nipples shown so don't bother furiously googling :P)
  • Gabby says "the only thing she wears from the waist up is tattoos"  not "tattoos and a belt"
If I had to guess, I'd say that they never intended her to be completely topless, but it's fun to think about. Mmmm, topless Jack.

Judging from the artbook, it looks like it - but I guess they had to cover up at least her nipples...with a belt.

Games like Dante's Inferno don't seem to be getting any bad press for all it's nudity not in a sexual manner, so I don't see why BioWare doesn't do the same.

My only motivation for doing her loyalty quest is so I can cover her up.

Extremely doubtful. That kind of over-the-top nudity is pretty rare in mainstream games. Plus, all we need is more bull**** Fox coverage to smear ME2.

Possibly. They probably could have gotten away with it, though, with all of her tattoos.

While it may have been tossed around, I don't see something like that being serious considered, hell they didn't keep the side boob of the original, presumably to avoid controversy.

Nipples are offensive. It's not like everyone has to suck on them when infants. They are something that should be hidden and never spoken of.

I think as soon as they put a known actress physically into the game, the chances of nudity in Mass Effect 2 and 3 was wiped out.

If Faux News has nothing better to do than rip on video games, then it simply verifies that their agenda is fashioned to tell others how to think. Y'know... propaganda.

BTW - I agree with BamBam38. Not enough romance in this second installment for my tastes, never mind T&A. The Asari dancers that are dancing up high out of the reach of drunks would be nude in the clubs if I were running them.

Probably, but they had to put a stupid belt on her so that the game wouldn't be banned in Australia and Germany, and to avoid giving BioWare the image of a development team without real girlfriends who love to create nude female models in their games.

I thought Australia only banned games with drugs and Germany only banned games with excessive violence (or EDITED: The Third Reich).

No, our morons also banned AvP and got L4D2 censored.
FO3 got away with just renaming drugs.

yes i agree. you can slaughter all the living things you want, punch as many reporters in the face as you feel, execute people, but show a nipple? That's just disgusting!!! think of how much seeing a nipple could warp a child's mind! they would be scarred for life.

in all seriousness though i don't know why americans find nudity so offensive (i am american before you get mad). it's literally the most natural thing a human can be. why is it that a movie can have people decapitated and it's still pg 13 yet one half a second long shot of frontal nudity and it's R ? doesn't make any f****** sense.

While Australia and Germany are known for banning games, I don't think this would go over well in America either. I remember when anatomically correct nude models were found in the Oblivion installation, Bethesda either had to remove them from further copies or face some sort of punishment from the ESRB, not sure if it was in danger of getting an AO, but when you have ME1 and its sideboob getting Fox News going mad, I can only imagine the response to a topless party member.

Australia, despite public thought, doesn't ban games that often. That being said, we do have a stupid rating system that does not allow an R18+ game rating, unlike our movies.

And the bans (Actually called Refused classification) vary and devs have to edit some things out sometimes - for example Left for Dead 2 was RC'd because you could continue to shoot and have an effect on already dead corpses or something, and Fallout 3 had to change the name from RL drugs to fake ones.

Dante's Inferno as I mentioned previously is still being released in Australia with an MA15+ rating, so it's not specifically nudity that is the problem.

What the hell is it with Europeans being scared of chainsaw bayonettes and Americans being terrified of T&A?

I think some of the outrage is exaggerated, unfortunately we have some media outlets that exist to be outraged and the ESRB is made up of people that aren't even gamers so they don't get to understand things in context and many of them are likely housewives from Nebraska (no offense to housewives from Nebraska, unless breasts bother you, in which case I mean to offend).

co sign I am not turned on by video game characters but if I were into anyone from ME2 it would be Miranda. If she was real she would be a bad broad. Maybe even Kelly. I'd do a chick like Kelly (I hope my wife isnt reading over my shoulder lol) but Jack needs a GOTDAMMNED SHIRT ON FOR F*CKS SAKE!

at least the romance scenes weren't as bad as they were in dragon age in terms of covered up nudity. still, I actually think the belt helped give jack an even more insane look. its like she was asked to cover up in prison, she she took her belt off and used it as a shirt

Jack has some pretty poorly done tatoos actually, any tatoo artist in almost any shop you go to has much better looking work and it looks like somone scribbled crayon all over her. I love that she has all those tatoos, and I wouldn't mind her topless but she needs to seriously get some of that cleaned up.
