I never got her personal quest dialog because I raised her approval too fast early on, then when patch 1.2 came the game decided we were in a romance anyways.  But I still never got her quest or invited to her tent.  So I broke things off so I could get the quest.  Now I have her approval back to 100, but I cannot seem to rekindle the romance.  Is it possible?

thanks
Dean

You needed to make certain dialog choices after doing her Personal Quest.

When you are done with her personal quest you need to talk to her and ask "Are you feeling any better about Marjolaine?" As you follow that conversation you'll get an option "She was special to you, wasn't she?” pick that, than follow it up with "I can only hope to one day to be that special to you". That will restart the romance.

Gah, I think the question is is it possible NOT to restart a romance with her? At least, if playing a female PC. There are some obvious choices, but there are some very not-obvious ones as well that always seem to get my Warden into trouble with either Zevran or Alistair.

lol I know.   Lel crushes easily, it seems.  Gee, I thought I was just being a good friend!!  My HNF made very careful statements to keep it at high approval friendship while avoiding the romance entirely.  lol Not easy when I finally had a character who was in a position to enjoy shoes as much as Leliana!  I had to stop my Dalish elf from being utterly practical with "Shoes are for keeping the cold out" and my City elf probably never saw a cute pair of shoes in her life!

With the console command "runscript zz_addapproval 9 -50" you can drop the approval to a level where you will get the quest, and afterwards, after being nice to her, give her some presents, she eventauly wil invite the PC in her tent.

Thanks for this.  I'm having the same problem on my FEM playthrough:  I don't want to romance her, but I need to get her approval down to get her personal quest.  She's my main archer and I want her to get Marjolaine's bow.

Speaking of not wanting to romance her:

How do I avoid this?!  I had it happen on my FHN playthrough and I'd really like to avoid it on my FEM playthrough--and any other playthrough--unless I specifically decide to romance her.

No, she's too delightful to resist.

Well, my girls resist her just fine. It's Leliana who's always hankering after them.

When Leliana tells you in camp that she likes your hair, that is a trigger for the romance. My HNF got out of that conversation with a friendly rating by simply playing dumb and telling Leliana she was a treasured friend. You can hit on her or let her down like a brick as well, but I felt that was nicer. You have another chance at the romance after her personal quest is over, but I just avoided asking about that part of her relationship with Marjolaine and it was fine. Alistair wouldn't be very happy if I went around throwing my heart at everyone. ;)

Alistair finds it hot . . .

Edit: Not that he'll share or anything, but he does find the whole idea hot.

Haha, I did hear that from a few sources. I am planning on playing a character who is a little looser in her relationships eventually, but for now, my HNF is Alistair only, since he's the first man she's loved and/or done anything with. Posted Image Plus, I'm going to be a queen. Can't be too naughty. Posted Image

Why not?  My queens are suckers for royal scandals!  Then again, at least Dairrin had a good last night . . . LOL, I love how loose the HNF can actually be.  And how funny her family finds it!

Edit: Not that you can't play her pure and good.  For some reason, though, if my wardens have a chance to have a lover in their origin, they're having a lover!  For some reason, that's just the two nobles, though.

Is there a way to friend-zone Lel early on with male characters? My last playthrough, I thought I was just being nice. She even commented on my relationship with Zev (so clearly she knew I was taken). And then, out of nowhere...wham. I'm getting the you-or-me talk from both of them and then taking a hit from Lel's approval when I'd never showed interest in her in the first place.

There should be a way to stall any of the romances, I think, so that they don't affect your other relationships. I'm not sure how to do it with a male, though... LoL Haven't gotten as far as playing a male yet.

I was tempted when I realized that those options were available, but this is my one true love playthrough. Of course, that's what I did the first time around, but I was a mage then, so it was a little different. And sort of an accident, since I had no idea what I was getting into. Hehe. :)

Mages can't have sex with Cullen. HN can have sex with Dairrin or Iona and DNF has an implied relationship with Gorim if you go that way, and DNM can get someone pregnant.

*grin* Then again, I always play my HNF as a Cousland first, everything else second. She doesn't romance Alistair (he is too into falling in love), but will marry him when she realizes that the choice apparently is her or Anora, and she'd be a MUCH better ruler. Duty first, happiness second.

Edit: With HNF at least, Fergus thinks it's incredibly funny.  His wife warns you to be discreet.  Ferelden nobles have a very different view of sex than many of us on these boards.

You can't even have had an earlier relationship with Jowan. Though I do enjoy calling Lily a fat cow (and vice versa when male).

I'm sure I went the "treasured friend" route on my HNF playthrough, so I must have said something wrong during our discussion about Marjolaine.

I'll definitely be more careful the next time around!

it's very easy to stall Zevran -- just don't flirt but don't tell him you're not interested either.  If there's a way to turn on the romance in a conversation with him, it's VERY obvious.  Even when you've run out of conversation options, you'll still have the "Do you stare at everyone like that?" which should be as obvious as asking Alistair, "Has anyone ever told you how handsome you are?"  Just don't select that until you want to turn the romance on.

Leliana, it's not so easy.  I don't know if there's an auto-turn-on-romance line without any further conversations as there is with Alistair and Zevran.

When she sneaks into your tent to watch you sleep at night, it's because she knows that you're struggling with your feelings for you. Not the worry, the Maker has a plan for everyone. She's very sure his plan for you involves snuggling with her in front of a nice fire.

I had the same problem. I was romancing Leliana, and Zevran and Alistair both decided I loved them. All three of them agreed that I was breaking their hearts.

They need to make romances like those in Mass Effect 2. You get into one and the others just shut down.

She is the creepiest team member hands down, she has such a innocent demeanour, but still enjoyed her days of seducing nobles and then killing them...
She has your eyelashes, hair, scabs, spit, blood and various other bodily fluids in jars that she hugs and smells at night. She is a crazy nug-lady.

At what point in the game can you activate Leliana's personal quest? In my first playthrough, I had her at 100 percent approval, she loved me, but I never was able to activate the romance sequences, nor did I ever get her personal quest.

I love this game but, darn it, sometimes the dialogue choices that activate the various sequences aren't clear at all! It's bothersome, especially when I sunk 120 hours into the first playthrough!

Part of activating Leliana's personal quest is a random encounter with some assassins - you'll end up in a sort of mountain pass next to a river, where you have to fight a Qunari mercenary with a wolf and a few archers and what not. The first few times I got that fight (my first playthough as well) it was quite tough and I kept dying lol. It took me a few tries to get it and win, and then find out that its part of Lel's personal quest.
