[HAGA NAGA]

Everyone goes on about the Widow, but i hate how it has to reload after one shot. is it really the best? thoughts? opinions?

I went with the Revenant, all be it not the best at start when fully upgrade and burst fired it's a beast.

i really got a lot of use out of the widow on my insanity soldier. granted, you wont do AS much damage with it as say an infiltrator would, but its still enough to kill a lot of opponents with just 1 headshot, which is great for taking out collector drones so harbinger has less to "assume control" of.

If you find yourself sniping a lot, I think it's a good choice. Otherwise, take the Revenant. Heightened Adrenaline Rush + Revenant = awesome. Use controlled bursts as it doesn't have the precision aim you're probably used to from the Vindicator Battle Rifle, but you'll notice the damage difference right away.

I focused mostly on assault rifle. But used one of those snipers with multiple shots before reload.

Depends. Do you want to kill 100 small things with ease, or 10 big things with undue satisfaction.

Revenant AR without a doubt. The widow is a fine weapon that will be very useful in some situations.The AR is a great weapon that is useful almost all the time.

Went for the Widow, mainly for YMIR/Scions/Harbingers/Krogan bosses.

Everything else was mainly Vindicator, it has the highest damage per-shot and at short range does more damage than the shotguns. Carnifex/Scimitar are fine for cleanup.

the main reason i went with the widow though was because i already had the geth assault rifle, and i was quite satisfied with it loaded up with armor piercing rounds. i didnt like the viper sniper rifle. but, deciding between the revenant and the widow was not an easy decision to make.

The LMG for sure. It's just terrifyingly powerful at medium ranges, especially after you upgrade AR accuracy. Leave the Widow for Legion. Gonna go with in on my infiltrator run anyway, so...

If you have the collector's edition, the revenant is HORRIBLE by comparison to the Collectors Rifle, I learned much to my dismay. It has a really wide spray of fire and all that can be said in its defense is that it has a large magazine. Next time I go through I'm gonna use the Sniper Rifle as a soldier... if I was Vanguard I'd obviously go with the shotgun...

I'd say the sniper rifle.



It makes a lot of fights easy. Some of the more annoying ones.

That's one of the things that bugs me about this game - the lack of visible stats on weapons. Has anyone been able to compare the two? How do they match up?

I went with the AR and never regretted it. Used it until the end, even after other AR's became available. It was my most common weapon and fully upgraded it's still very effective.

Thats one of the best things about this game is how different the weapons actually are. The amount of damage is not significant in comparison to how well the weapon actually works or not. All the different guns are so unique its awesome. I just wish there were more...

There was a thread around here earlier which listed weapon stats. The collector weapon is one of the weakest ARs with the geth pulse rifle being the weakest. The Vindicator has the best DPS of all the ARs though.

Nah, not off the top of my head. I don't think it really matters though as I think all the weapons are scaled to do the same amount of damage over time in their respective classes anyway (assault rifles, sniper rifles, etc.), except for the collector ship weapons of course.

the Revnant, pretty much sucks at mid/long range.  Its amazing up close or on big fat targets.   Like you said, for how the combat usually plays out in this game, the vindicator is probably the best rifle as the RAR, isnt even that good mid/long when you fire in bursts, whereas with the vindicator damn near every round will be a hit.   On the other hand, when you do get all the accuracy upgrades and such the Rev isnt bad and is clearly better than anything but the vindicator, and the amount of ammo you can carry is nice.

Now Im confused..Im a Soldier class. What gun should I pick up?

I always play  ME and ME2 as a soldier and I can tell you the big machine gun is useful. Very useful with aiming upgrade Also, very useful at derelict reaper on insanity.

Revenant is easily the best weapon in the game. Huge clip, great damage, especially close-mid range. But you can also easily kill distant enemies. Window is great, but for Soldier Revenant is the best by far.
