Heh, never noticed this. Nice catch.

Speaking of which, first time I did the Crash mission, it somehow bugged and I ended up with 21 tags, but eventhough I planted the statue the quests didn't complete. Maybe I should reload that game and check the names...

When you pick them up, a box pops up with your EXP gained, then right after that, another box pops up that has a picture of tags, and right above the picture it lists the name.

It's not the KIA crew, it's the unrecovered/unaccounted for crew.

Or...

You could have just done everything before you started the IFF mission, or after you finish the last main mission...

What I wonder about is.....
Where are the bodies?  It's an ice planet with apparently no large life forms to scavenge the dead meat.  If there are microbes, then where are the bone leftovers?  If an Alliance Graves Registration team came through, why recover the bodies, but leave the dogtags?

In particular, how did @6 dogtags end up inside intact crates?  The ship is going down and those crewmen thought crawling into a crate would save them?  Whatever the reason, the crates are intact and the tags inside.  What became of the bodies wearing the tags?  Shouldn't those _definitely_ be in the crates, considering that the crates are, in fact, intact (until you blast them)?

The Alliance lets relatives serve on the same ships?  That's not a good policy.

Yeah, I've heard of the bug, but it's been put forth that the extra tag could in fact be Shepard's tag.

Also, perhaps their bodies where incinerated in the explosion and somehow their dog tags remained intact?  Super sci fi black box dog tags I guess.

Is it ever actually stated that Adams is dead? I remember there's a part where Tali says she misses him, but that's the only mention of him I can remember.

You know, it just occured to me that - when you first meet him - Jacob tells Shepard that "pretty much everyone" got off the Normandy alive, except Pressly and a few techs. /facepalm

I think that the mission was just a tribute to ME1 and they wanted to do it tastefully.  So, no bodies laying around.  Nothing gruesome.  Just an opportunity for ME1 players to pay their respects.

The dog tags represent the missing crew and their bodies.

We don't know the full crew compliment.  I'm not sure you can even count 20 people in the ship during ME1, yet we saw plenty get into a single escape pod, and then several escape pods jettison.

Also, unfortunately, it looks like at least one escape pod (hopefully unused with no one in it) didn't make it and was impaled in the ground.
