You (the player) assume the role of Shepard, that's true. At the same time, Tali gets her own face and Shepard knows how does she look like - there no real need to reveal it to the player since the character being familiar with the face is part of the setup. Keeping it secret from the player just adds to the tension and that's a good thing - only my opinion of course.Ender_118 wrote...
Reveal!
If Tali were the protagonist, see the MasterChief for example, there would be no need to reveal her face. 'I AM Tali, therefore I know exactly what her/my face looks like,' I would be content.
But this isn't the case, If I'm Shepherd, then Tali can get her own face!
With that said, in an interview Casey mentioned that they know how does she looks like and this suggests that they are going to show it to the player, too. Other wise there would be no need for them to know.

It's likely that she is. Shepards smile upon revealing her face says it all.Qario wrote...

Still i vote conceal. Whatever BioWare comes up with will likely not beat our imagination, plus, at least for me, not being able to see her face has somehow become part of the character.
It's part of the mystery that shrouds her, even moreso after 2 subsequent games where we were not able to see it.

True, but designing a character with features outside of human experience (glowing eyes, for example) will hurt the resonance and connection the human player feels to the character. And things are typically outside of human experience when they don't make real world sense and therefore don't exist. Artistic expression is top order, but functional biology is still a consideration. It has to be.Kharn-ivor wrote...
You sir , are correct.Lyriq wrote...
And the type of DNA doesn't really determine that. For example, earth lizards have the same type as humans, they just evolved diferently.
I still think you guys are looking at this the wrong way, when the concept artist or character artist sits down , he dosnt think much about DNA ^^
Its more important for something to look good have personality etc rather than getting the science right, it just wouldnt be much fun other wise.
Then some bloke has to try and fit the codex entrys so they make sence with what the art team came up with ^^
Oh I agree one cant create a character without thinking about makeing sence to the human audience^^ (never know maybe some aliens picked it up too), but I think DNA is a bit too far
For example the glowing eyes make no sence, eyes (in humans anywayz) capture light , if they were emiting it how the hell wouldnt they blind themselves ? :S I think the fact they have glowing eyes was that if not the animators would have no way of making them look at things and express emotions.
Actually some animals like certain spiders have glowing eyes. Also cat eyes emit a weak light, which helps them see in the dark.

Shepard has yet to visit places which are heavily populated with Turians - that's a feasible excuse for the lack of Turian females in the game.mundus66 wrote...
I think they should show us Female Turians, Female Krogans and mask less Quarians in this. Seriously you where on Tuchanka and no female Krogans? And why aren't they any female Turians? Doesn't make sense.
As for the Krogans, have you paid attention when you were on Tuchanka? There's a reason why they are hidden. Krogan females are a valuable 'resource', it's all reasonable to keep them safe and away from the places any visitor is allowed to go to.
There are the 'in-lore' explanations; realistically speaking, it's not worth the time and resources to create another model for the species if they are not going to get a significant role in the story anyway.

Cats' eyes don't emit any kind of light, they have a reflective layer behind their retina which 'sends' the light back to the eyes so the actual information 'gets processed' multiple times. Off topic, of course.mundus66 wrote...

@ Colonel_Temp: Most of the people at the time the story takes place have some kind of implants, hence qualifying for being a cyborg. In this sense, even Shepard is one and yes, in this sense, the Quarians can be cyborgs. But they are certainly not Terminator-like cyborgs, and that's been clarified several times, in novels and the games as well.

*Tali walks up to Legion in the AI core wearing sunglasses over her helmet*
'I'll be back!'
*Walks out, and moments later drives a 20th century car into Legion*
Come on, you all know you'd crack up if that happened!

Like some have said before, I would like to see a Quarian to give our imaginations a nudge in the right direction, so we can have an idea of what Tali looks like but keeps the specifics to what we think.
I for one have a theory that the colours/patterns/scarves (or lack there of) reflect the individual Quarians skin colour and patterns. Since they are always in their armour I think they would customize it so that it reflects how they look, as a way to express individuality in the group centric culture of the flotilla and as a method of telling each other apart.

The Quarians are probably the most interesting in the Mass Effect universe to me. Though the Krogan and Geth are in the running. Regardless of how they look, it wouldn't really change my opinion of them. But it would give closure.
As for Tali...I know many seem to have an almost obsessive love of her, but even if she is a video game character, she looks like what she looks like. If someone's opinion of her is lessened significantly by her apperance, rather than personality, I would say their opinion was a shallow one at best.
Using one's imagination for certain things is good. Using it to mentally place the most attractive and perfect image you can come up with to someone's face so you can admire them is, I would argue, rather unhealthy.
If someone came up to me and told me they never wanted to see my face just so they could use their imagination and that was the only way they could love me, and keep a bucket over my head, I think I might be a little offended.

Other than that, most probably she has already seen Shepard's face with her own eyes so it wouldn't be much of a last request.

Hah, no I'm a huge Tali fan...I just don't want a death reveal or some stupid thing like that which would ****** me off.
