You're an idiot. Sorry, but you are. It's not the "same sh*t". I could mod any armor or weapon the way I wanted to in ME1. I can't do that in ME2. ME2 is very linear by comparison.

Yes it is. You just can't change it once you upgrade it. Actually, ME2 is much more varied in that it had many different upgrades for your gun. Calling me an idiot just makes you look immature, and is a reason why you people who dislike the game keep getting thrashed on here.

I'm not going to argue this with you. And you are an idiot. Calling you one doesn't make me immature; it makes you an idiot. Because you are. Mods were much more varied in ME1. In ME2 they are simply damage upgrades, and they can only be applied from the Normandy. That's it. You haven't even registered ME2.

will people stop with the "no cusomtization" bull**** there wasnt ****ing customization in ME 1 either every gun looked the same the ammo mods had very little actual affect to what the gun did the armor all looked the same with different colors and wasnt even designed in a way that there was a point to using different armors other than other colors. There wasnt even much character skill customization since by max level you filled 80% of your skill bars and there were very few options on what you could and couldnt take because you had to put skill points into specific skills because your class only had so many ways to actualy kill people without waiting 45 seconds between cooldowns.

The "variety of weapons and armor is less"??!?!?! EVERY GUN IN ME 1 IS THE SAME GUN there is no difference between a Lancer X and a Breaker X excpet its stats it is the exact same gun that does more damage and overheats slower Every Assault rifle functions the same, every sniper rifle functions the same, every shotgun.... there is NO variety and the ammo mods dont do jack to fix this fact.

What defines a RPG is the ability to make choices that affect the game and the character, now your ability to put skill points into something so you can shoot better, or your ability to sift through your inventory of 150 guns that you somehow carry around in your pocket.

If you want to continue to claim that ME 2 is not an RPG because there is no customization fine but then ME 1 wasnt an RPG either so youd be retarded to expect ME 2 to be.

Yes loot means everything.

Obviously with that logic I can say that Resident Evil 4/5, Devil May Cry, and Dynasty Warriors are all RPGs, because they all have loot and inventory systems. Yup. Totally.

Heck, the Sims is an RPG according these loot freaks.

That's how I view ME1 fanboys who refuse to acknowledge how poor the combat system was. ME1 had a great story, but failed in its attempt to fuse RPG with real-time TPS. I know Fallout 3 has its fans, but that combat system is garbage too. ME2 suceeded in fusing interactive choice-based storytelling with immersive, fluid action like no other game has.

WTF are you talking about? VATS was the sh*t. FO3's combat system put ME1's to shame, but I digress.

Edit, on thinking about for more than about 2 seconds, it still seems like a bad idea to me. Taking up skill space where your character's traits and abilities should be with different types of rounds just seems like they're removing useful powers (like overkill) for the sake of something you could do elsewhere. Plus, having rounds upgrade as part of your character's abilities doesn't make sense to me.

Overkill wasn't useful.  All it did was reduce the heat and recoil inaccuracy of assault rifles due to extended fire.  Except Spectre weapons ( which you could get 1/3 of the way into the game ) had hardly any recoil to speak of and rarely overheated.  Overkill being useless was one of the reasons why Assault RIfles were the worst weapons in ME1.

Listen, I'm sorry that your butthurt. Just because I never registered my game doesn't mean sh*t. Mods were not more varied in ME1. Mods mattered in the early stages of the game, but after you get your spectre weapons you could pretty much blow through everything without changing your mods. Your not going to argue with me, because you CAN'T argue with me. Run along now.

Dude, he is not butthurt. He is concerned that ME2 doesn't have a ton of worthless mods for his weapons and armor. Hmm, should I use Tungston V or Shedder VII rounds? Oh, don't forget snowblind.......Hmm, oh crap, I forgot to change my mods the whole game! Phew, still beat the game on insanity. OH Nooeeess! I haven't registered my game! I'm an idiot...............

If you people are just going to get this angry about everything you're not worth talking to, regardless of which 'side' you're on. I'm out.

Don't let the door hit your butt on the way out. We are an angry, violent group of RPG elite. We're like Krogan.

Who said you didn't loot fallen enemies in ME1? You just didn't search the bodies. The enemies dropped a crap-load of loot that you acquired automatically.

Sorry but you are wrong, every mod, every ammo mod in ME1 made the guns different, you have to known what your're doing...
Please stop that BS
We all know that ME1 has more customization in the guns that ME2

Can't say I'm missing looting. Having to choose between a dozen of shotguns where the only difference between them is that one does 1% more damage but 3% more overheats is a total gimmick.

As for ammo types, those where horribly imbalanced. +40% damage against synthetics for an adept? This is not what he should have access to.

Absolutely an awesome post ! I completely agree with you, looting is minuscule in comparison to the ability to shape and change the galaxy, people around, friends, lovers etc.

I personally find looting crate after crate, hoping to find that one excellent piece of armor is very tedious.

When I play an RPG I look forward to interacting with people, learning about there lives there history, developing a relationship with them that gives me a feeling of sorrow when harm comes to them.

RPG is "Role Playing Game" bioware you make us proud :D

You know what?

I played The Sims and The Sims 2 and now I am playing The Sims 3.

I can tell you one thing, you can call it a RPG because there is a skill system ... a Sim cannot cook Lobster until he have enough skill poins in cooking and still there is a chance for failure.

And the fun thing is there is no loot ... there is a inventory system (not in the base The Sims, it was added later on expansions) but nothing that could be called loot, unless one considers the collection system were the Sim go around picking up stuff like bugs, metals, jewels, etc ... for the collection system.

Yet its a simulation game,  never marketed as a RPG ... funny that ...

Tedious?

I can't see your point because of the elephant in the room.

I agree that looting in ME1 was mostly uninspiring and simplistic. I'm glad Bioware chose to address it. Unfortunately they replaced it with the single worst thing ever to exist in a really good game: Resource Scanning.

I HATE it and I have to do it if I want an acceptable ending. It's the first time I've ever considered paying someone IRL to "farm" for me. It's pure work. There should be a room full of people in cubicles scanning planets for minimum wage.

That arguement is deeply, deeply stupid. Ammo mods do nothing because you could beat the game without them? You could also beat ME 2 without ever upgradeing your weapons or using an ammo power. Therefore they also do nothing by your logic. So both are equally useless and this arguement is utterly pointless.

Is ME 1 an RPG? Yes.
Is ME 2 an RPG? Yes.
Does ME 1 have a deeper loot and inventory system? Yes.
Does ME 2 have more focus on shooter style gameplay? Yes.
Does this make either game suck? No.

Can everyone stop being loudly stupid now?
