I don't like it at all. As has been pointed out aleady very thoroughly, it totally breaks immersion. I like seeing just a total of items/xp received pop above your head for a few seconds, while allowing you to make your own way back to the Normandy.
I have no idea why they did it. in ME1 you could always tell if you were finished with a mission just by checking the journal. All the stat counting they show you at the mission end screen is just annoying.
When on Omega, I also didn't like how you automatically 'poofed' back in space inside the Normandy when you were done with each of the individual missions you get when you first arrive on that station.
"Ok- got Garrus? Check."
"Now to go for Mordin..."
"Wait I have to dock again? I never left..."
Mission complete screen....anyone else hate it?

This is such a perfect idea! Maybe you should apply for a job at BW...Bane_v2 wrote...
I like the fact we get a mission summary. It gives a bit of insight into The Illusive Man as well which is nice. I think I would've preferred to have The Illusive Man send the summary to our private terminals though. It's already a game mechanic so why not use it?

Yep, feels like a bloody capcom game.

As an alternative to Mission Complete screens, I would have preferred a conversation with The Illusive Man that recaps the mission complete with Renegade/Paragon options... Kinda like talking to The Council in Mass Effect. Mind you, that probably would have been too expensive considering who voices The Illusive Man, but it would have been nice.

I hate it too.
They used to put you on the Normandy to report to the council. You should be able to do the same and report back to the illusive man. Mission reviews are fine but that should appear on your computer terminal for review after a mission.
It also totally breaks immersion.

BOOooooo to mission complete screens.

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if the "Close" option actually closed the screen, but this is a console port abomination.

I can't imagine complaining about something so trivial as the the Mission Complete Screen. What difference does it make?
Because it is bad?
I can't imagine complaining about a break pedal, it is such a small part of the car.
Wow, what a bad analogy. How is this incredibly minor screen as important to the game as brakes are to a car?
Didn't really think that one through, did you?

I don't mind the screen or even being "teleported" to the Normandy but what I realy don't like is that the normandy leaves the planet or space station you were on.
Most of the time, there's more to do on the planet/space station after completing the mission. So I don't care if you put me back on the Normandy but leave the Normandy docked.

I disliked them at first, but then I felt they were okay. They're like Illusive Man's personal debriefings (Meaning, what he thinks about the missions behind the scenes)

They were kinda annoying. And, as other mentioned, it does kinda 'break immersion' a bit. I mean, compared to ME1, w/ some missions, you were debriefed via comms (Adm. Hackett, if memory serves).
I mean, I appreciate the info the 'mission complete screen' shows, but, IMHO, it could have been presented better (I agree w/ one of the above posters who suggested sending the mission summary to the private terminal).
I also agree w/ another poster regarding the 'teleport to normandy and normandy undocks/leaves planet' thing.

I have to disagree, mission completion screens are awesome. They should implement this feature in dragon age too, have it give you a rundown of how many crits you got, gold and items you looted then teleport you back to the last town you were at. Actually they should remove looting from dragon age to streamline it.

I don't really care either way. I read the small captions, click out, and keep going. Is that really hard for some people?

this and the blood viens that pop out when you are taking damage suck. im also part of the shooter crowd but i see no reason why bioware would add this to the game. its ok in a shooter game when you need the break down to create story flow since shooters dont have stories. An rpg shouldnt have this, look at the first one. one of the best rpgs ive ever played from bioware and it didnt need any of this. still love ME 2 though. i guess i just dont understand why they chose this route for the game.

I think its kinda cool. It just goes against the norm, and naturally people can't handle it.
It's like saying the permanent message box in older Bioware rpgs that told you how much damage and how much experience you recieved are "immersion breaking" "oh noes take it out of my screen!" "The numbars are killing mah storyline!"
But that never happened, because people were used to it. Whatever, i'm inclined to start believing what others have said about people coming here to **** for the sake of ****ing.

I don't mind the mission complete screen other than how it looks like a really badly compressed image.
Also, I'd be happier if it was clear what would trigger an immediate end of mission so I don't have to reload a save to check if I missed anything in a place I can never go back to.

The only thing I mind about it is this:
It looks like TIM has only one leg!

I don't mind it. It neither hinders nor enhances my experience.
To those of you who think this screen makes Mass Effect 2 a "lol, generic shooter", need to go shoot themselves in the foot or actually play some shooters.

The only problem I had with the screen was the music. The song starts out cool then abruptly ends!

I hated it too, breaks the flow of the game and destroys any immersion. Also, it's cheesy as all hell.

I hated it when it first came up, but like others said, it's cool to get in the mind of the illusive man. I also started to deal with it when i realized how unimportant it was.

I don't mind having it in ME2, but:
1)The style of it sucks. It was like hearing the Final Fantasy victory theme, but without the awesome.
2)It can be in ME2, but I dread it being in such the hopefully cinematic experience of ME3.

I hate it almost as much as the loading screens. i rather walk back or take an elevator anyday (listening to the crew talk and check latest "galactic" news while staying in the game)
