Following
family tradition, Chief Williams enlisted in the Alliance Marines
directly out of high school and was assigned to the Recruit Training
Depot in Macapá, Brazil.
During training, she certified proficient
with the standard-issue M7 Lancer assault rifle and light and standard
weight combat hardsuits. She completed certification in zero-gravity
combat aboard the Rakesh Sharma Orbital Platform in Earth geosynchronous
orbit. For Hostile Environment Assault Training, she was assigned to
Fort Charles Upham on Saturn's moon, Titan. She was awarded a
commendation for her bold assault technique in a field exercise
simulating an attack on turian point defense emplacements.
Drill
Instructor Gunnery Chief Ellison noted her steadfast endurance and
aggressive instincts, and promoted her to the role of squad leader.
After observing her effective tutelage of the less skilled members of
her training unit, he promoted her to platoon guide. She maintains a
friendly correspondence with DI Ellison.

Chief Williams is from a
large family - she is the oldest of four sisters (in order of birth,
Ashley, Abby, Lynn, and Sarah)Every year since enlistment, she has used
her mandatory week of leave to visit her family on Amaterasu. In 2181,
she made an exceptional request for a week-long leave of absence from
her posting at the Czarnobóg Fleet Depot, citing family issues.

Chief
Williams has served in a number of ground force garrisons on Alliance
colony worlds and industrial outposts. She repeatedly requested transfer
to a shipboard posting, but each request was denied without comment by
her superiors.  After the Geth attack on Eden prime Captain
Anderson transferred Chief Williams to the SSV Normandy where she served
under Commander Shepard, she helped play a major part in stopping Saren
and his Geth during the siege of the Citadel. In doing so Chief
Williams was promoted from Gunnery Chief to Operation's Chief and is
known as ''a Alliance hero''. Of recent Chief Williams file is
classified.

Personal Observations

Chief
Williams' old unit (the 212) had logged unanimous positive feedback on
her leadership in fitness review cycle. Private Nirali Bhatia
praised her focus on team-building exercises and "tough but fair"
discipline.
Williams is a reliable and dedicated noncommissioned
officer, but her service in rear-area garrisons had prevented her from
gaining actual combat experience until she helped Commander Shepard in
saving Eden prime from the Geth where her skills in combat were
noticed by Captain Anderson, Kaidan Alenko and Commander Shepard. Her
aggressive instincts and tendency to speak bluntly are suitable for a
field unit, but might lead to complications if her duties require her to
interact with civilians. Additionally, her political opinions may be
problematic, given the focus on improving relations with the Citadel.

I found her to be an interesting character, especially the fact she seems to get over her xenophopia toward the end of the game, we need to see her romance resolved in ME3 for those of us who stayed faithful to her

Only reason I didnt leave her on Virmire was that her skills beat Kaidens in the early stages, so I kept her for a soldier, that and I prefer solid classes rather than hybreds. Regret that.

Ash gets my vote. She was an interesting character once you got to know her. Also, we got to "see more" of her during the romance scene than any other character in ME2 so that's nice, lol. I actually watched that scene on YouTube again the other day. It's actually quite touching, really.



Seriously though, I remained faithful to her in ME2, so hopefully she'll be back in ME3.

Ashley is great, by far one of my favourite characters and best love interest imo. Those of us who stayed faithfull to her in me 2 will be rewarded in me 3 i hope! I certainly did. Holding her picture before going into the Omega 4 relay, the email from her and the brief encounter plus hug on horizon all gives the relationship hope, and it seems one of the most interesting relationships in the game, and i personally love her!!

Ashley is absolutely flat. She's one of the poorest characters ever designed by Bioware. In the attepmt to make her a "fiery, self confident woman" they went overboard and managed to turn her into a barking dog. Even her (few) emotional moments were just awkward as a result.

Honestly the fact that her role in ME2 was negligible was good riddance. Hopefully she will have an equally secondary role in ME3.

I'm pretty sure they will bring them back. I can't remember where I read it, but Bioware said that it'll be interesting to see how many people remain loyal to their ME1 LIs after you meet Miranda and so forth in ME2. What would be the point in loyalty if you never meet them again? Here's hoping...

I agree, i personally had and still have strong feelings for Ash, the romance in me 1 was extremely well done, and the emotional choice of  either saving her or Kaiden and all the other things you go through together in the first game adds even more to the relationship.

Personally im hoping that the small role in me 2 is a test for all the people that actually love Ashley, and that we will all be rewarded for staying faithfull in me 3. There are enough hints to indicate the relationship definately isn't over, Ashley clearly still has feelings for you, the encounter on Horizon and the email from her clearly show that, holding her photo before going into the Omega 4 relay is the icing on the cake and hopefully indicates the relationship is far from over.

I know there are alot of Ashley haters, but i personally think she is one of those kind of characters you either love or hate, if you actually bother to take a deep interest in her you find that she is indeed a deep and well thought out character, and personally one of my definate favourites in mass effect, lets all hope for a large squad role and romance for Ashley in Mass Effect 3!!! <3

The writer team screwed us over in this game. I mean did you see the answers you could give her on Horizon? No wonder she's angry (Not that her reaction to seeing you where that brilliantly written). Here's hoping that they won't screw us in ME3.

I liked Ashley alot in ME1. Honestly she was the best written romance. Poetic and funny.

In ME2 my like for her went out the airlock after Horizon. The only way she'll be part of my Shepard's crew in ME3 will be if forced. She blew it with him.
