I just about threw the proverbial remote at the TV over the 'noble sacrifice' ending of Dragon Age. So yeah, strong feelings. I hate selfless heroes.
I am using a specific definition of 'selfless' that is probably different from yours. Not obvious, I know. To my mind, a truly selfless hero can have no concept of what it is he's fighting (and dying) for because he's denied himself those things. You can't appreciate the life of others unless you appreciate your own. Dragon Age almost made it impossible, not to mention frightfully undesirable (by in-game standards, mind you) to be fighting for any kind of personal stake in the outcome. No, everything you did had to be wholly dedicated to anyone besides yourself. Even your companions try to talk you out of your love affair because it might interefere with your sacred duty of self-sacrifice.
I'd better stop on this subject. Bottom line: ME3 had better not turn Paragon Shepard into a drone forced to give up everything in the name of the greater good.

Im proud of my country's history also and some people do have to realise that we are allies and have fought side by side in almost all recent conflict's and alot of American's ancestors are from this very country. It's people like him that could take the great out of Britain. But yes we dont want this thing spilling into ower thread so lets move on

While I doubt it will happen, I wouldn't feel bad if it did. I've done my best to keep that monster on track. I sat at my computer for 3 days straight one time to make sure an argument was over.
