I liked Ash's character and the LI part ME was cool but I had the feeling through ME1 that both Ash and Kaiden did not really measure up to the task at hand, well actually I think the only people in ME1 that deserved to be there was Shep, Garrus and Wrex. All having a bit of experience where as Ash, Kaiden, Tali and Liara are all lightweights combat wise, not techically but rather in connection with their storyline.
Like I said I like Ash but I think she's just a normal soldier just like Kaiden. That woun't cut it in ME3 when all hell will be breaking loose.
