Lets be honest, none of us care what Ash comes back as, whether that be Spectre, N7 operator or still as a Gunnery chief as long as she comes back with a proper role again

I was actually really glad she was promoted in the sequel. Gunnery Chief is a fairly low rank isn't it? Especially compared to the counterpart she had in the first game. Infact, isn't Kaidan promoted higher than than Shepard in the second game?

Systems Alliance: Military Ranks
The Alliance uses a modified
version of the ranking system that has been used for hundreds of years.
Soldiers are classified into rank-and-file enlisted personal,
experienced non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and specially trained
officers.
The divide between naval personnel and ground forces ("marines")
is small. Ground units are a specialized branch of the fleet, just as
fighter squadrons are. This unity of command is imposed by the futility
of fighting without control of orbit; without the navy, any army is
pointless. The marines, as a matter of pride, maintain some of their
traditional rank titles; for example, marines have Privates and
Corporals instead of Servicemen.
In ascending order of responsibility, the ranks of the Alliance
are:
ENLISTED

  • Serviceman 3rd class/Private 2nd class
  • Serviceman 2nd class/Private 1st class
  • Serviceman 1st class/Corporal
NCOs

  • Service Chief
  • Gunnery Chief  - Ashley Williams ME1
  • Operations Chief - Ashley Williams ME2
Officers

  • 2nd Lieutenant
  • 1st Lieutenant
  • Staff Lieutenant  - Kaidan Alenko ME1
  • Lieutenant Commander - Shepard ME1/2
  • Staff Commander - Kaidan Alenko ME2
  • Captain/Major
  • Rear Admiral/General
  • Admiral
  • Fleet Admiral

Systems Alliance: N7
The Alliance Military Vocational Code system classifies the career path
of all serving personnel. The MVC consists of one letter and one number.
A soldier's MVC indicates proficiency, not rank. The letter notes
career path; the number indicates level of experience, as indicated by
service record, technical scores, and commendations. All 26 letters are
used, and numbers run from 1 to 7. N is the letter code for Special Forces
personnel.

Yeah that makes me think will Shepard re-join the Alliance in ME3 and get promoted, or will Kaidan (if he is alive) be his comanding officer. This makes me nervous though that Ash and Kaidan wont be squadmates Image IPB They best be Bioware!

Yeah sadly Kaidan being a higher rank makes it look less likely Ash/Kaidan being squadmates, i hope they bloody are though! Hopefully Shepard gets promoted, or Ash/Kaidan get a transfer to Shepards squad and the ship being Shepards Kaidan takes second in comand.

They can avoid all these rank problems by forcing Shepard to become a Spectre again. That way he is above everyone else and doesn´t have to take orders from anyone. Just like the good old days...

I think Shepard is outside the Aliiance Chain of command in both ME 2 and probably 3. I mean even if he's not a Spectre, he's still a vigilante. He actually offered Admiral/Counselor Anderson to join the crew in the second game (which seemed like a stupid suggestion but I decided to offer anyway), so I have a feeling Shepard probably wouldn't listen to orders from anyone. I suspect that he wasn't going to offer Anderson to take charge of his mission

Yeah, I doubt after what I told the council in Mass Effect 2 they will ask if I want to be a Spectre again...

In all fairness, do they honestly think that I would return to being a Spectre in secret so that they can deny the 'crazy Shephards reaper story' but in the odd chance I am right and save the galaxy they can take all the credit and say they helped me all along? No chance.

Hello everyone. *waves*

Ashley/Kaidan are stationed alone out in the middle of butt**** nowhere. I think it's safe to assume that they're now more than simple soldiers.

I think Shepard in ME3 will either depending on your choices become a Spectre again or work with Cerberus or perhaps even freelance somehow.

Hey Pyro!

As much as I am enjoying replaying ME2, I know what it's missing...

I never noticed this before, but if you speak to Anderson after Horizon, he says Ashleys purpose on Horizon was to investigate Cerberus.

We've had a couple interesting conversations. A Miranda fan came in last night and said Ash was useless.

Yeah, he mentions how it was him who sent Ashley there to investigate Cerberus, Shephard says he thought of Anderson as a friend, why would he go around his back like that. He says he didn't know you were with Cerberus at that time, but even if he did, he wouldn't have trusted you weren't being manipulated by TIM <_<

He also says Ashley confirms your story about the Collectors being behind the attacks, but she didn't find any evidence to support your Reaper claim.

First time I heard Anderson say that he knew Ashley was on horizon. That he didn't tell me because he couldn't trust me with that info. I was mad . Till I looked at it as Anderson protecting Ashley. So now I appreciate him not telling me. I like that he looked after her.
