While I can sit here and say that I understand the writing and blah blah the devs were messin with our heads, I still fail to see how "It's good to see you again." translates to a very casual "It's been too long, Ash. How have you been?"
Damn you Shepard and damn that foot in your mouth!
P.S. I still liked the scene, just joining the chorus of Kaidan/Ashley fans facepalming about that convo.
They made Shepard an awkward and lost for words idiot in all the ME1 LI reunion scenes.
I've come to the conclusion, that the actual damage was more to Shepard's character, than Ash or Kaidan.
There needs to be good, solid, drama (not melodrama) when Shepard meets with Ash again. This time, Bioware needs to remove that emotional block from Shepard. They have cinematic ambitions. They should follow through, and not resort to some half assed treatment just so the new LIs appear more enticing compared to the old.
I hate to be the person who defends the Devs but I actually see it happening, sure Shepard is a smooth, confident, badass who exudes charm and can talk anyone around whether it be with niceness or intimidation but here he/she is confronted with the woman/man they love, they have no idea what they've been up to , have they moved on, do they still care etc ........ Shep opens his/her mouth and all of those well thought out words turn to utter crap.
I do stuff like that all the time when confronted with stuff I actually care about, yes Shep is internally facepalming, but that's the point.
That's what I'm writing my fanfic about, although it's a femShep Kaidan one so doubt you folks would be all that interested. But I thought it made a nice change for Shep to be such a dork in that situation or maybe it's just that I would be a dork in that situation, lol, I have no idea
