ME2 serves to add even more depth.
You go through that horrible break up, And now its Shep's call if he wants to try and work it out with her.
2 out of my 3 Shepards would rather comfort now, via Miranda and Tali, But the third one is loyal.
I support Ashley as a squadmate in ME3, and as a Love Interest in ME3.

Even though my first playthrough was leading me up to have a relationship with Miranda... I got screwed with the Miranda/Jack fight. I was led to believe that Ashley kinda moved on, so no one would get hurt if I went with someone else.

I'm all at once placing a tremendous yet realistic faith in Bioware that the romances from ME1 will have satisfactory and fulfilling roles and conclusions in ME3, and I'm also narrowing my eyes at Bioware and pointing at them like the evil monkey in a "you'd better" type of skeptical way.
Don't you let us down Bioware!

You better give me an amazing role in me 3 Bioware!!! Grrrr!

Nope, Ashley is just annoying, pure and simple, if shes not whining, shes on everyone's regret list for not leaving her on Virmire.

Ashely was the only ME1 caracter that felt like a real person, Liara was the worst ME squad mate so boring in ME1 and so annyoing in ME2 what is wrong with her voice?
Indeed, Ash was the realist and most interesting character around, once you explore her personality and background you find out she is also incredibly deep, everything she does is because of past experiances and things that have happened in her life, the poems and her slight dislike towards aliens are good examples of this. She actually has real and personal motivations behind everything she does in me 1 and indeed in me 2, it just takes some time to appreciate her and understand what a great character she really is!

I imagine Kaidan fans feel much the same way.
That said, it still felt very rewarding when I had my Shepard stay true to Ashley in ME2. That scene towards the end where he's in his cabin and he just looks sadly at her picture for a moment was wonderful.
More Ashley in ME3, please!
