Seriously though I have no idea what the hell happened.
I think before the board self-destructed we were discussing Ashley executing Wrex on Virmire

from what I can gather ...still about Ash and Wrex.
The first playthrough of ME1 I had Ash kill Wrex .(Renegade me
What?....She's just trying to protect her man.Serves him right.
I don't hate Wrex I think hes cool. It's just when the option to have her kill him came up,
I couldn't resist.

Never been able to go renegade. At least not to my crew. Will choose a renegade option or two, when others tick me off. Like TIM. People get mad about Ash / wrex thing. Stupid. She is protecting you. You told her to be ready. Its avoidable. Learn the characters, do the missions and avoid it. Or go renegade and have at , but don't blame Ash.

Yeah, I always figured the reason people get upset about Ash killing Wrex is that they just never bothered to get to know the characters. Wrex shows himself to be more than willing to kill people on a second's notice, even people he likes. Ashley was just being protective of her commander/ developing love-interest.

Exactly! When I read the forums a lot of people seem to think a real person would make entirely paragon or renegade choices. For example, my colonist/war hero paragon Shepard is understandably somewhat antgonistic to batarians but is Jesus re-incarnate to everyone else. No on in real life actually fits into one classification or another.LiamN7 wrote...
Some people who play don't pay attention to the choices they make. And / or they dont put themselves in another characters shoes even for a moment. Put yourself in Ash's shoes when it comes to most things she does, they become very understandable.

One thing that comes to my mind these days is that, aside from all those in-game advantages, Ashley, as a character, has one external trait that makes her unique. Namely, she's the only video game character I know who popularizes real-life culture. In a way of course, since that certainly isn't her primary role and I doubt she ever was meant to do it. But I'm sure it was when they met Ash that many people had contact with Tennyson's poetry (and possibly other writers later too) for the first time in their lives, or for the first time they read it just for themselves, and not because they had to in school. That was the case with me; I had never read Tennyson before and I was surprised to see just how, well, beatiful his poems are.
Many people probably don't care about that or even think that sucks, but for me it's great. Video games are a part of the broadly understood culture and I'm happy to see one do something more than just provide simple entertainment, even as a side effect. Too bad ME2 is missing that little part.

I agree. I never read Tennyson before. Only read ulysses ( hope I spelled that right ) because of Ash.
I think some people get annoyed with it.I guess the just want her to do what she is told and comment on how hot shep is. I like all the layers and facets, flaws and all. Makes her more real.

I have to admit to my shame I've still not read Tennyson, and my only contact with Ulysses has been through a) The...80's? cartoon of the same name, and

You know that is a very good point. I am not exactly a big poem person,(being forced to read and reread certain poems in school kind of takes the fun out of them) but I really appreciated her references to real world culture. I also, despite being a dirty little heathen liked her belief in God. It seems to defy belief that religion would be non-existant in a time when my as of yet non-existant grandchildren could still be alive.BrotherArdis wrote...
