I think the did a great job on that game. I think all of the NPC have depth. I like them all. Some seem to think not much will or can be done for characters that might not be in everyones games. Because they think bioware wont waste the time or money to do it. I don't think the characters are a waste, btw. I don't know what bioware will do, but to say they just cant take the time is wrong. The might not, they might.

The whole "everyone can die" makes me think they're writing squadmember dialogue for 20 characters instead of 10.

So, we can get drunk with Chakwas, but we can only talk about having a drink with Ashley. This needs to be fixed in the next game.

I think they can put more time into the writing of the characters if they are using all the old squadmates. They already have the design of the characters down so nothing new there. I almost hope that there are no new squadmembers for this reason but that is hoping for to much I think.

Yes this is what i hope for the next game we get a bar on the ship and we can have that drink with her on armisitce day, or the anniversary of the Siege of the Citadel or the anniversary of Virmire when Kaidan died.

As I have probably stated before, if Bioware is planning to make ME3 feel like the end of the trilogy, Shepard should have almost his entire crew (at least everyone that was kept alive and loyal through ME1 and ME2) within the first few hours of the game. They have no time to waste gathering squad mates and gaining their loyalty. These squad mates know Shepard and would follow him to the very end. ME3 is that end. ME3 should be entirely focused on the main plot against the Reaper threat. And obviously through all this, Ashley is Shepard's LI and their relationship will finally pay off

Yeah last year of highschool then it is off to college with me. That should be an interesting time. Med classes seem to take a lot of studying. Hopefully ME3 comes out over a break or something.

in a perfect world, this would be the case.

This is actually pretty much what they did in ME1. With the exception of Liara, you got the rest of your squad pretty much right off the bat. On the other hand, Dragon Age kinda scattered party members around the world, and you just kind of ran into the over time. ME2 was exceptional in the fact that recruiting squadmates was the whole POINT of the game, and storyline missions actually revolved around getting new teammates. This wont be the case again in ME3, and I personally hope that Bioware does something sort of in between DA and ME.

That is, they give us a bunch of squadmates, say five or six, right away (Ashley included, hopefully), then they scatter three or four around the universe that you pick up as you go.

It would've been nice to have some type of dialog with your ME1 LI after the suicide mission.

I thought Ashley would've taken issue with you going through the Omega-4 Relay on a suicide mission and not even taking a minute to say goodbye for what could've been the last time. (again) We do have the sad photograph scene in your cabin before entering the relay after all.

Perhaps after visiting Anderson on the Citadel.

Shep: Should I even bother telling the council about stopping the Collectors? And how I encountered another Reaper that was behind all of this again?

[Ashley walks in]
Ashley: Shepard!
Shep: Ash!

[Ashley walks over and slaps Shep]
Shepard: What was that for?!
Ashley: Anderson just told me that you'd gone through the Omega-4 Relay to fight the Collectors! And you didn't even say goodbye? Noone ever comes back after going through the Omega-4 Relay. Do you know how worried I was when I got the message? How could you do this?
Shepard: Ash... I thought after Horizon that you didn't want to see me...
Ashley: Don't make excuses Skipper. You almost did it to me again. I would have never forgiven you if you hadn't come back.
[Ashley hugs Shepard]
Ashley: Promise me you'll never do it again.
Shepard: No promises Ash. The Reapers are still out there.
Ashley: Then promise me you'll take me with you next time.
Shepard: I promise Ash.
