Either one of them would give their lives for the other.  But it's bigger than that.  Either one of them would give their lives to save anyone and that's what makes them awesome.

If bioware messes it up. You can write the fan fic to fix it. I might like your endings better.

Alas, the thing about my stories is that I try to stay as close to canon as possible.  And as close to the characters Bioware created.  If there is no option for Shep to survive I'm afraid I can't write stories as if he does.

I thought about this type of thing and I live in fear of it.  Because when it comes down to it... I'm not gonna lie - my Shepard could never sacrifice the lives of so many no matter how much he loves Ash.  They both know they could die at any time and they both have to accept it on some level.  They're marines.  It's what they do.  And neither one of them could live with themselves if they saved each other at the cost of the greater good.

The exact opposite for me... almost every Shepard would choose love over the greater good.  Too many atrocities are done in the name of the greater good for it to be a valid reason in my mind.

I think Ash might change her tune as well given how messed up Shep's death made her.  She might not be able to do that again.

Ashley is an alright character, but in my opinion she really has nothing special about her.

Gah!  So far my fanfics revolve around mental torment of some nature... I need to think happy thoughts!  Choosing between the greater good and love isn't helping...

Nicely written. Ashley was upset, that Alenko hadn't been chosen. Think how very much she would be angry, if for her reason a few persons died.

Does she REALLY get mad when you choose to sacrifice Kaidan instead of her? Sure, she's frustrated and feels guilty for a little while, but Shep tells her "Ash, I had to make a choice, you know I would never leave you behind." and she says "I know..."



Afterwards, she's a little upset, but she gets over it really...

I hope that it won't be necessary to make such choice. I don't know whether Shepard would be able to choose. Even I would not know what to do.

That is an awesome conversation starter.  I have to agree with everyone else...there is no good option in that situation.  She felt guilty over being chosen over Alenko...no way Ash would be okay with being chosen at the expense of the entire crew.  I don't think my Shepard could sacrifce his crew for her.  Man, that would be a heart-wrenching moment.  If that happened I would have to take a few days off from playing just to recover before I could play again.  Then, the rest of the game my Shepard would become a completely ruthless bastard!

Something else that could be cool.  After defeating the final boss, you and your crew have to try to escape from where ever the battle took place.  As you're fighting your way out Shepard gets hit and goes down, Ash charges back for him as the rest of the squad lays down covering fire.  This could also be a moment for one of the other squad members to get killed while trying to protect Shepard. 

There are so many different, and excellent, directions bioware could go with ME3.  Which ever direction they choose, I hope it is as epic as us fans have built up in our minds.  Has potential to be the best, most exciting game ever.

Interesting idea. But I do not know if I want to see how the entire crew is killed to defend Shepard...
