I'm not sure. Going with canon, Shepard is earthborn/sole survivor. And I remember one thing he said after the Virmire choice. He said something along these lines to Ash (or perhaps I'm remembering it wrong)

"I lost my entire squad on Akuze and I vowed that day I wouldn't lose anyone else. Kaiden is gone now, it was my choice not yours. I can't change that. But I can do better next time."

And then we have ME2 where it's actually possible to have everyone survive. We went from losing an entire squad, to losing one person, to not losing anyone. The way the story is progressing,  I would find it hard to believe that Shepard would accept losing his entire squad again. I think it more likely he would sacrifice himself to save the crew and any LI before he lets that happen again.

Something else that could be cool.  After defeating the final boss, you and your crew have to try to escape from where ever the battle took place.  As you're fighting your way out Shepard gets hit and goes down, Ash charges back for him as the rest of the squad lays down covering fire.  This could also be a moment for one of the other squad members to get killed while trying to protect Shepard. 

Interesting idea. But I do not know if I want to see how the entire crew is killed to defend Shepard...

I hope they just skip the whole heroic sacrifice thing this time and just let Shepard  have a happy ending. They should have more than enough drama as the Reapers glass planets all over the place. They already had the dramatic decisions involving squadmates in ME1 and ME2; I hope they just focus on the bigger story this time around.

Looking forward to the results of staying faithful to Ash from ME1 in ME3, but also curious to run a non faithful game, see what the devs have planned for that result in the trilogy, and if the choice in person to cheat with has any additional points.

a thought.....what if we have to choose between planets in me3?  definite saves for me: earth, palaven (garrus is mah bro, though earth will probably be end-game by default).  but i think that's the kind of thing that could really tear up the player from an RP standpoint.  what worlds would your shepard be willing to save?

and to tie it into ashley, if your squadmates have specific planets that they want saved, aka amaterasu.  saving ash's family for all your LI goodness.

You know my Shep already lost her best friend to save the man she loved, there's no way she wouldn't do it again, she likes her crew but she loves Kaidan and would rather be dead herself than let Kaidan die, I said it before, hopefully not here otherwise I apologise for repeating myself but screw the greater good, if you can't save the people you love, what's the point.  This is why I saved my dog in Fable 2 and will save Kaidan no matter what in ME3 and also why my lover's demon spawn running about in another well known game (if you don't know what I'm on about then don't ask, it's probably a spoiler).

I think because you know wha's coming your attention isn't as focussed so you spot things you missed before, I know last time I played there seemed to be loads more glitches than I remembered!

I see your still here so I assume you neither shot the dog or the owner?

It's a good thing you couldn't support Ash sucessfully from a cell!
