Saw the email discussion a few pages back, and although I've made a point of it in a few other threads, I really hope Shepard learns to write email. It would've been nice, after Horizon, to say, "I understand where you're coming from, Ash, I appreciate the sentiment, you'll be in my heart."

And for me personally it would've been extremely gut-wrenching later on to send an email, "I care about you, Ash, and never want to hurt you, but you should know I've met someone..."

(It wasn't as bad as not being able to write his mom. Even SpacerShepard is a jerk.)

yeah not being able to send response emails was annoying

Best part of ME2

thought I'd start a new page out the right way with an Ashley hug

It's always good to start and end with hugs in most things.

As much as bioware was showing off their ability to do crying now.

Why no Ash crying.

Is there crying in the MARINES, Gunnery Sergeant Williams?

Ash: SIR, NO SIR!

(Trying to remember...I know Kaiden gets a promotion to Commander, does Ash get promoted, too?)

Because Ash only cries when she's alone and only rarely.  She buries things.

First, LOL.

Second, yes. But she's still referred to as "Chief Williams," which means she must have been promoted to Operations Chief (the highest enlisted rank according to the Codex). I would have thought that her part in taking down Saren would have earned Ash a commission. It would have been neat to hear people call her "Lieutenant Williams."

It was indeed Operations Chief. Anderson said so.

I was totally disappointed in her in ME2. I saved her life on Virmire and all I got was distrust. I hope that there is something like a loyaly mission for her in ME3, but this time she needs to earn my trust. Same goes for Kaidan and Liara.

Shepard is still called commander.
He's not technically in the military anymore.
Ash call's him captain of the Normandy.
I guess to Ash he will always be " Oh, Captain My Captain "

Ashley is cool. The Horizon encounter wasn't great, but that's how the encounter was written. Hopefully she'll be back as a squadmate in ME3. Given the chance she would've been a cool squadmate in ME2 - I hope she is given a chance in ME3.

I was disappointed with Ash in ME2, despite knowing she would be a cameo. Clearly Bioware wanted to make you "cheat" on your LI from ME1 by making them all act like jerks to Shep. I understand her reaction to Shep on Horizon and all, but come on, calling him a traitor? A traitor?? That seems a bit harsh for a guy that you saw first hand defeat a Reaper and had to go around the council to do so.

Her email helps make her a bit more forgiving though....even though my 1st Shep still dumped her for Miranda :)

Well, I got that same feeling in reverse with Liara. There wasn't even a proper option to bluntly refuse her mission or some other nasty renegade thingie I could do. Every time I enter my cabin I see her picture on the desk. Even before doing the final mission I look at that picture and think: "Not only did you give me to Cerberus, but you also ruined my friendship with Ashley!" :P

I think you are right about bioware. They wanted to push it a certain direction.

I am back playing ME1 and the comments from Ash about cerberus being the enemy make sense.
Admiral Kahoku and his men killed, Genetic experiments, possibly your whole platoon, ect.
The traitor thing feels harsh, but I understand it.
Hardest part is when says you betrayed her. She apologized .

This makes me worry about her part in ME3. I will keep my fingers crossed though.

I love ash she I've saved her every time in me1 and the way she reacts to you in me2 made me sad yes angry yes...but then i realize where she is coming from think of the last time you see here the Normandy is getting all shot up to hell and you just told her to leave you so you can do your hero thing and then what happens..... you "die"

For 2 years she is left alone and probably beats herself up for a good bit of that for not saving you now flash forward to horizon....

you are working for Cerberus the same group you 2 helped bring down in me1 for creepy genetic resurch when you are supposed to be dead and supposed to be ageist what they stand for (if you a nice paragon like me) and you dont think she is a little ticked off

but her emial made up for it and when my shep smiled at her pic on the was to omega it made me all warm and fuzzy.

I hope me3 will gives us who stayed fateful to our me1 partners a good rewarding ending to our love sub-plot

You got a mail from Ash? Liara didn't even send me one. Hmmm. Maybe I should do another playthrough with a Shepard that romanced Ashley.

I recommend this.
It feels rough and lonely sometimes. The argument at horizon, the email to give you hope, the scene in your room before the last battle.
classic moments.

Yeah I understand Ash's reaction and it seems perfectly reasonable for her character to get quite upset at a newly resurrected Shepard who is working for Cerberus. I remember when news got out that in ME2 Shep would be working for Cerberus and I thought "Hell no! Not after they killed Admiral Kahoku!" And the email helps give you a more complete picture of her thinking.

But the fact that you don't really have good dialogue options when talking with her to explain the situation is frustrating- its like Bioware was kind of guiding you a certain way regardless of what Shep said.

I find it interesting though- having done a playthrough where my Shep cheated on Ash with Miranda, Miranda ends up quitting Cerberus when TIM tries to get her to stop Shep from blowing the Collector base. As a comparison, I find it interesting that Miranda is willing to cut herself off from Cerberus for the greater good, while it seems Ash couldn't even break from the Alliance to help Shep with the Collectors, making Ash a bigger loyalist than even Miranda!

I just hope Ash and Miranda get to meet in ME3.... oh yeah, I expect fireworks...
