I think Bioware definitely wanted to entice you to romance someone new. I just hope that both outcomes (staying faithful and romancing someone new) have epic storyline resolutions.

I'm excited to see what they'll do. I'm one of the few that still has absolute faith in Bioware's ability to tell great stories and have great romances. So...

Again....don't disappoint me - us- Bioware!

I was disappointed with Ash in ME2, despite knowing she would be a cameo. Clearly Bioware wanted to make you "cheat" on your LI from ME1 by making them all act like jerks to Shep. I understand her reaction to Shep on Horizon and all, but come on, calling him a traitor? A traitor?? That seems a bit harsh for a guy that you saw first hand defeat a Reaper and had to go around the council to do so.

Her email helps make her a bit more forgiving though....even though my 1st Shep still dumped her for Miranda :)

This makes me worry about her part in ME3. I will keep my fingers crossed though.

You got a mail from Ash? Liara didn't even send me one. Hmmm. Maybe I should do another playthrough with a Shepard that romanced Ashley.

I recommend this.
It feels rough and lonely sometimes. The argument at horizon, the email to give you hope, the scene in your room before the last battle.
classic moments.

Come to think of it... I have 13 ME1 saves and never romanced Ashley. That tells you how much of a Liara fan my Shepards are. Snif.

It better be real good, because this isn't exactly working. :)

If you romanced Liara at least you can find her.
You could stand in the corner of her office and stare.
I played most of the game looking for Ash. Nope.
Wanted a 2nd email. Nope.
Shep staring at Ash's picture before the final mission was great.

Yeah I understand Ash's reaction and it seems perfectly reasonable for her character to get quite upset at a newly resurrected Shepard who is working for Cerberus. I remember when news got out that in ME2 Shep would be working for Cerberus and I thought "Hell no! Not after they killed Admiral Kahoku!" And the email helps give you a more complete picture of her thinking.

But the fact that you don't really have good dialogue options when talking with her to explain the situation is frustrating- its like Bioware was kind of guiding you a certain way regardless of what Shep said.

I find it interesting though- having done a playthrough where my Shep cheated on Ash with Miranda, Miranda ends up quitting Cerberus when TIM tries to get her to stop Shep from blowing the Collector base. As a comparison, I find it interesting that Miranda is willing to cut herself off from Cerberus for the greater good, while it seems Ash couldn't even break from the Alliance to help Shep with the Collectors, making Ash a bigger loyalist than even Miranda!

I just hope Ash and Miranda get to meet in ME3.... oh yeah, I expect fireworks...

There won't be a catfight over Shepard. That's tacky and very Jerry Springer. Not to mention out of character. Bioware has created a lot of strong, independent, mature female characters that they can be proud of. I hardly think they would ruin them with a lame ass "he's my man!" bit. I hope not anyway.

Wouldn't be opposed to the same handling of it as ME1. They all just discussed it in mature manner and confronted Shepard, rather than confronting each other (the ladies I mean).

I mean don't get me wrong....I don't think Ash and Miranda would get along anyway, romance or not.  So there may be fireworks.  Just now what some people are hoping.

:P

Could be interesting.
Ash isn't afraid to get in a biotics face.
Ecspecialy over shepard. Did it to Liara.

I have two playthroughs which try to handle the situation differently. One Shepard has pink glasses and still thinks that Liara is untoachable and did her mission and hopes to live happily ever after. The other one talked to her and was as renegade as possible and never did her mission. Liara even got angry for a second or two. I hope that it is handled differently in ME3. We'll see. ;)

Sorry to be off-topic. I won't derail this thread any longer. Those romances are really screwed up by BW. :P

Yeah I don't expect a catfight- but an argument? Sure- heck, maybe they both dump Shepard if you cheat- although I would expect some sort of paragon/renegade choice in this situation.

In any event, I too have the utmost faith in Bioware- while I surely have my doubts on how they will be able to pull off a satisfactory conclusion to the Reaper story while not ignoring character development of the existing ME1 and ME2 characters- Bioware is I think the only developer that of all their games (going back to BG1) I can honestly say that I loved each one. So until Bioware disappoints me, I'll buy whatever it is they are selling ( except The Old Republic, but thats another story.... just make KOTOR3!)

The Ash-Miranda fight is one of the parts of ME3 I'm looking forward to most ;).
Though one thing worth pointing out about Ashley leaving the Alliance vs. Miranda leaving Cerberus is that Cerberus is Bad People. It takes Miranda a good chunk of the game to realize that it's an organization that can go way to far, in an arc with some similiarities to Ash's attitude towards aliens. The Alliance might be ineffective and bureacratic, but Ashley doesn't have any moral qualms working for them. (Nor should she, really.)

Kinda doubt there will be a fight of any kind at all. Confrontation...perhaps, but I kind of doubt it, especially the way things were left with Ashley.

Hell yes.

But I think we can all agree the Ash loyalists should have gotten a little something more from this game. The hug, the e-mail, the picture on the desk... They carried us through. But a glimpse at the end would have been nice. Or even another Tennyson-quoting e-mail.

And it wasn't easy to pass up all those interesting ME2 romance options... All for a hoped-for reward in ME3.

On thr bright side we can now play through again, be a real bastard and try to sleep with anything that moves.

I'm hoping in future DLC to get (at the very least) another email from her, or a channce to meet up after you complete the game.

Perhaps she can even make a full-on return (for those who stayed with her) in the Date Night DLC everyone really wants, deep down.

(But the confrontation must be saved for ME3. Even though there's like twelve possible confrontations, I hope Bioware does them all.)

Also what is it that ash was saying towards the end of your conversation before you reach Ilos? Something along the lines of '...you'll have to come back to me to find out', anyone else remember?

I think that's pretty much it. She starts saying something, then cuts herself off and says, "you'll have to come back alive to find out."

I think it was pretty likely that it was going to be "I love you." But it's also possible she just wanted to make sure he knows that the woman's restrooms on the Normandy aren't getting the attention they should, or something.

Ash= FTW

i have the advantage of multiply profiles, but the first one i will import in ME3 will be where i stay loyal to her.

And my second will be the one where i screwed Miranda, and when Ash gets in a **** fit then i'll be like STFU **** you dumped me ^ ^

will be intreasting to see how these to diffrent ideas play out

I need at least one faithful playthrough. The trouble is I have difficulty replaying the game past my Captain America MaleShep and Queen **** of the Universe FemShep playthrough. Which leaves StupidShep (who gets everyone killed on the suicide mission) or BoringShep (who always picks the middle option...he has to go a lot...) to stay faithful.

I know a lot of people have their 'personal canon' playthroughs, and for me it's always the first. When I don't know what's coming and my responses are most authentic and in tune with what I'm feeling and understanding, is how I think it 'should' happen.
