Um....hm...let me think.
Ah yes.
What do you think the situation was where Ash killed her first person/alien whatever? And how do you think she dealt with it?
I think she didn't really see all that much action before Eden Prime to be honest. She kept getting shuffled off to sleepy colonies. I've been trying to think of situations and places where Ash would be required to be in combat. The best I can come up is small arms fire on groundside posts with pirates or raiders that wandered into the territory.
I'm gonna go with the first person she killed was a human, probably a merc during a firefight. And it really stuck with her. And it was probably at least a couple of years before Eden Prime.
Thoughts?
A likely scenario. If I had to guess Shepard would be a sort-of one off for having seen major action since the first contact war.

Alliance kinda sidelined her so I think you might be right. I like the fact that losing people hurts her. She cares , isn't cold. She is awesome. Ash is worth it.Badpie wrote...

As for when Ash first saw action, it wouldn't surprise me if it was Eden Prime. Clearly she hadn't been up to much before then. Although I seem to remember her saying something about having lost marines in the past.
I took that to mean that she had been in maaaybe a few small scuffles, but nothing like Eden Prime. Maybe when she said she'd lost friends she was referring to one friend even, someone she'd lost and it really had an impact on her.
But yes I like to think of Ash as having so much potential that wasn't fully realized until she joined Shepard's crew. It suggests that Shepard took a chance on her based on her skill watching his back on Eden Prime. And then it paid off big time because she was awesome.

Yeah Shepard has seen plenty of action. I guess I always thought of N7s as the SWAT team of the Alliance. The special forces that go in, do the hardest, most dangerous jobs then get out as quickly as possible. Ash still has that new marine excitement. She's really gung-ho and a little green, which makes her being able to handle herself right alongside Shepard all the more impressive.

It's because the very thought and presence of Ash ignites a passionate fire within them that they cannot understand and therefore must destroy.

Hey everyone *salutes*
I think that's pretty spot on, i think even Shepard would still have thoughts of his/her first kill , everyone remembers there first time right?
I wonder if recent kills still affect Ash as much? Maybe not like her first but i cant see taking lives getting easier for her. Ash is the most human squad member you can get and she believes in god, so i cant see it getting easier the more she does it, but i can see her realising there is a reason for it, she will leave it out in the field so she can think about it when the mission is done. I guess the time she has to clear her head while maintaining the rifles is the time she use's to think about that stuff and not expossing her vulnerable and sensative side to the crew.

ha, that's probably pretty accurate. Unconditional love is fine sometimes, but occasionally you want to know the other person is capable of thinking for themselves.... Tali follows you pretty much unconditionally.
Even if they're letting their emotions get in the way... Ashley. <_<.

The brooding emote threw me off. I agree with you one hundred and ten percent. Tali is *way* too dependent on Shepard.epoch_ wrote...
I was actually pointing out how tali is willing to follow you unconditionally more as a negative aspect to her character. Ashley seems more real because she actually thinks for herself and isn't just in awe of shepard like tali is.

C
She (Tali) seems to me like a Shepard fangirl. Theres no real build up to her relationship after recruiting her. It´s more like: "So Shep, wanna talk first or do we go directly to your cabin?"
I have the impression she is not on the same level as Shepard, unlike Ash:wub: and Miranda, who have their own beliefs and seem much more independant.
