Ash even at a lower rank, feels like an equal. She will defer to shep because he is the commander, but will say how she feels. Ash just feels right.

Gotta agree with you there. Immediately after her recruitment mission, Tali and Shepard seem to go straight to planning sex (which, I suppose quarians more or less have to do, given their immune systems). I don't know, a relationship based on hero worship doesn't exactly sound destined for longevity.Errol Dnamyx wrote...

I was actually pointing out how tali is willing to follow you unconditionally more as a negative aspect to her character. Ashley seems more real because she actually thinks for herself and isn't just in awe of shepard like tali is.
C
She (Tali) seems to me like a Shepard fangirl. Theres no real build up to her relationship after recruiting her. It´s more like: "So Shep, wanna talk first or do we go directly to your cabin?"
I have the impression she is not on the same level as Shepard, unlike Ash:wub: and Miranda, who have their own beliefs and seem much more independant.

To be fair, Tali is still barely out of childhood for a Quarian.
That´s why my Shepard sees her only as a good friend and not a possible partner for relationship. I´m not sure if it´s the right term, but it feels almost abusive. (apart from the fact that she is not human of course.)

I don't view her as "unequal" just not sure of herself yet. I think for many Shepards, the romance will evolve into a completely equal one once Tali grows into herself mentally.

This would have been even worse had she been romancable in Mass Effect 1. I see brother-sister or sister-sister love between Shepard and Tali. Anything else makes me uncomfortable.Errol Dnamyx wrote...

Obviously she is own person. I really believe that. But I do think she's lonely, especially in an intimate sense. For humans it's easy to be intimate with someone, especially in a physical sense and sometimes that provides comfort and an alleviation of loneliness. Quarians don't have that. Physical intimacy is directly related to trust, real affection and a willingness to take a risk. It makes sense that Tali would feel like Shepard fit this role. I don't doubt her feelings for him, but I don't see the two of them on the same playing field when it comes to intimacy. I just feel like Shepard probably has a lot more experience with real, intimate relationships and Tali is pretty new at it. Doesn't fit for me.
Shepard felt bad turning her down because he didn't want to hurt her. The last thing he would want is to hurt Tali, which is why mine wouldn't be with her....well that and...Ash.
Ash I feel like has the same level of experience with adult relationships as Shepard. It just fits better for me.

I still view Tali as the little sis. My Shepard is super protective of her and really does love her.

I guess it depends on the specific Shepard. I have created Shepards that are not compatible at all.
However, I think an experienced Shepard might be the best for Tali. He won't necessarily rush her and he can help her even out eventually, keep her in check so to speak.

If by "evil" you mean "delicious."
EDIT: And you're right, Kab. It's all about who your Shepard is. I can see a Shepard being incredibly sweet and understanding and willing to go slow for Tali and all that good stuff because he genuinely cares for her. In fact I thought that Tali romance stuff I watched was really sweet.
My Shepard, while a good guy, is not always the most sensitive guy. He can sometimes be a little distant and oblivious. He's blunt and gets distracted, especially by work easily. He knows this about himself. And while Tali's great, he just doesn't have the patience or the desire or even the skill really to coach someone through how grown up relationships work. He's done it in the past sure, but years ago. He's done. Now he needs someone like him on the same page.

You must have been working on this for such a long time. I can't believe I never looked at it from this angle.
Just wow, really. I wish you would have come along like 2 years ago. I could have saved so much time. My life has been wasted up until now. How could I have been so wrong.
Thanks for setting me straight. I will try to make amends to the world some how. / sarc
Ash is worth it.

Bought Just Cause 2 on Tuesday(lot of fun, really.)
And just convinced myself to start a new Dragon Age playthrough. Dalish Elf,Male Warrior. I know how im going to do the ending and I know all the choices im going to make. Im still trying to decide if this little guy gets a romance or not. Morrigan would make most sense, since he is going to be ruthless, But I dont really like some of the stuff that happens with the Morrigan romance.
Heck, I may end up going Leilana for another playthrough, even if she doesnt suit Theron.
Discussion to add to the current topic: I like Tali. Im really fond of her, to be honest,But as most of you have already said, she isnt Ash. Tali and Liara arent Ash,and Liara's romance is almost completely emotion less. Proof of this is that you can start it at basically any point in the game. (I had 2 conversations with her and Ash was like, whats the matter with you?)
