Hey guys.. So it's Ash's turn now for my Forgotten Letters series of fanfics. For those of you who don't know, these are letters written by the crew of the Normandy SR1 during the period between Shepard's death and his resurrection by Cerberus. So far, I have Tali and Kaiden. (the link's in my sig) .. I hope that this letter pleases the Ashley fans in this thread.

Dammit Skipper. Dammit, dammit, dammit.



You heard what I said. I know you did. The Tennyson. Remember? "Death closes all: but something ere the end, some work of noble note may yet be done, not unbecoming men that strove with Gods." With Gods. The Reapers. Are they akin to gods to us? Your faith was.. one of the things I always wanted to talk to you about, but there never seemed to be enough time. Either way, skipper, you sure did 'strove' with them.



"The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof." Is that what happened? We killed Saren and we stopped Sovereign. You stopped Sovereign. Did you make the pillars of their heaven tremble and so they struck you down? I'm just a marine, skipper. I always have been. I always will be. I can't shoot a starship out of the sky. I told you that, after Virmire. It was all you, Shepard.



Dammit, why did you have to go and die on me? All those things I buried, all those pieces of me that I had to lock away to get where I was, to get what I wanted. I unlocked those for you. No. You unlocked them. You unlocked them and let them out, and let them wash over me. And now.. Well, this is me, skipper. Other people have always said what I wanted to say better than I. You know this.



"I sit alone; in foam and spray. Wave after wave breaks on the rocks which, stern and gray, shoulder the broken tide away."



You were my rock, Shepard. You were stern and gray, and you shouldered the tide away for me. I had never let anyone do that for me before. And it was nice. It was good. I liked it. And now you're dead and gone and, dammit, I was just getting used to it.



I just don't know anymore. You were the best thing that ever happened to me. My shining light in the darkness. And now you're gone.



But we did it, skipper. We stopped Sovereign and the geth, and we saved the galaxy. The rest of them, the politicians and the bureacrats and the pen-pushers, they might forget that. They might ignore it, brush it under the rug. Their gratitude (and their memory) lasts about as long as a Batarian's promise, eh? But I'll never forget. I'll never forget what we did.



And I'll never forget you.. O Captain, my captain.

If I remember correctly, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back we had a poster like him who was a Miranda fan who became a regular here.

I call myself a Talimancer, but in truth, I love all the squadmates equally and I'd love to see them all back in ME3 (assuming they're alive) .. I guess I really only call myself a Talimancer because she was the first one to grow on me, even in ME1 where she wasn't romanceable.
