Another reason I think people did not like Ash was because she is not flashy. She does not have any tricks up her sleave (Liara/Biotics). She speaks her mind (I do not need a man). She tackles problems head on. So when you hear how she handled her sister's boyfriend or hear her recite poetry it tends to freak people out. Do not even start with her belief system. I like her alot because in all honesty she breaks most molds for women in video games.

I think her equivalent is Vasquez in Aliens. People loved that character but when they get to play her and see all the shinies with the Asari...

holy crap I love the reference.

Vasquez in Aliens kicked so much ass.

It occured to me today as well, but after a bit of thought the verdict is... No way. Vasquez was pretty much just a heavy weapon-toting guy with ******. Ash... Ash is a woman. Tough, hard and unbreakable, but as womanly a woman as you can get in this world.

@LiamN7 make sure you get enough pitchforks for the Kaidan fans, regardless of who we chose Ash and Kaidan come hand in hand so let us join you on your crusade!

I shall do my best to gather all castle storming supplies.
Agreed on joining forces. I like Kaiden. It sucks to have to chose. Me2 you have to almost work at getting someone killed. ME1 there is no getting out of the choice. You choose one way I choose oppisite. But we can support each other. I love that. I got your back.

I gather torches and pitchforks, just in case. Hope I never have to use them.

should i get picket signs with our motto?

I have no battle cry yet. Picket signs before pitchforks, not with. If you go, go all out, or just don't go.
We will have to wait and see what bioware does. Bioware is great. I miss Ashley.
Can't wait to see what they do for ME3

women like her can be very intimidating.

I think that is it in a nutshell. She is strong, sure of herself, knows her strengths and limitations. She also knows what she wants and is not afraid to say it.

Bingo, buddy.  She's all this while still remaining incredibly feminine, a tough balance to have.  I don't see any similarities to Vasquez.  Vasquez was pretty butch.

Hudson: Hey Vasquez, ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez:  No.  Have you?

:P

her aggression is my favorite aspect of her, actually.

unlike Liara... every time I talk to that girl, she's all, "Oh, are you coming to check up on me, Shepard?"

No.....?

Same here.  Only I hope he doesn't have to lose a testicle to win Ash's love.

And what's all this talk I hear of her being "pixelated" or "not real" or some kind of "created character"?  Pfft.

Bioware specifically said that they deliberately set aside the first game's love interests in the sequel so that they would be "safe", as in not die. Kaidan, Liara, and yes, Ashley will have much bigger roles in Mass Effect 3. It was all their plan you see!

Anyway, just dropping some support for Ashley and this thread. I love every character in Mass Effect (well, except maybe Kaidan) but Ash will be my favorite romance option in both games.

You have a link? I'd wonder if Liara would have a big role aswell due to the shadow broker.

I don't know if there's a link for that info. But Casey Hudson has said that on more than one occasion.  The part about them being saved for ME3.  To what end or how large a part, no one knows.

:kissing:

What Badpie said, but it is fairly (reliable) common knowledge I think at this point. And I agree with this decision since if they were made squadmates in ME2, then there would be a great chance many players in ME3 wouldn't even have them alive so it would be wasted development for their voice acting, animating, etc.

From that logic, that would mean anyone from ME2 squad would get a smaller role for ME3??
