Some sort of Latin American mix (likely other things as well)... nobody else here thinks that?  I thought that was the general consensus.  I thought her writer had even mentioned it once.

Yeah in the ME universe everyone is pretty mixed. But I always thought she looked predominantly Hispanic or Latina. Her name suggests English/European roots as well.

But I think she looks more "exotic" than a white girl.

Possible , I suppose. Just seems far fetched for a human with ancestors from the United States(judging by her accent), born in space and dealing with aliens to have time to learn Spanish. I for example only know bits of German or Gaelic despite the last of my non-english native speaking ancestors only dying off about 30 years ago.

Well, as someone interested in genetics, she has some defining European characteristics. Such as her brow line, shape of the eyes, and jawline. The lips are also not uncommon in Germanic-Celtic populations.

Also true.  But nothing says her maternal grandmother or mother wasnt' born on Earth in a spanish speaking country.  I got the sense that it was her father's side that had the military/space travel experience.

I'd also suggest that more people on Earth are likely to speak more than one language due to the ease of travel from place to place especially.

True, I'm just a cynic and assumed it would be mostly English speaking people from wealthy countries that would ever see off-world.

The reason I brought it up is she looks vaguely like a relative of mine from a couple generation back. The cheekbones are most likely Southern European or of Native Central American origin though. Northern European faces are sometimes too broad jawed for the cheekbones to seem that prominent.
