Also on a related note, am I the only one who saw Ashley's eyes cross on Horizion during the talk with Shep?

No.  And there's a hideous pic of it floating around somewhere that both makes me guffaw and also makes me sad.  It's like the creepy Shepard smile.  I want to laugh, but....oh god you've ruined it!  hahaha.

Oh...k. But seriously, I'm sure she crossed her eyes when she was talking - I was thinking "What the hell..?!" - maybe its a PC version issue?

As for creepy Shep... yeah, I know which one you mean  :D They use it alot in the Tali-joke thread.

Yes, yes it is. When I look at it in game, I have to stake off the nagging feeling she was having a stroke mid-photo.

Maybe she does it just to mess with you.

I for one am glad Ash isn't the most popular character.  Reactions to her are very polarized.  Which means she seems real.

EVERYBODY loves Tali.  INcluding me.  And you know why?  Because there is NOTHING to not like about Tali.  She's sweet, she's cute, she's agreeable, she's a little bumbling and shy, she's smart.  There's not a negative thing to say about her except that there's not a negative thing to say about her.

Ash has visible issues.  She has a big mouth, is wary of things and people she doesn't understand, doesn't always agree with Shepard and is blunt as blunt can be.  She rubs some people the wrong way while others are drawn in by her refreshing flaws.

Good to see! I always thought I was the only one who actually liked Ashley in the first game, since I didn't see her as racist (at the most, mildly xenophobic) but rather cynical like I am. I feel like her romance is the most natural out of all romance options in both games aside from Tali. They both have a gradual buildup---Ashley needling Shepard to see if he has feelings for her and his thoughts on fraternization--- as well as Tali growing this large infatuation for him and altogether being a good friend to him the entire time. And, I do love both of that sass of theirs.

This is a good point as well, Tali is characterized as... well, perfect really. The only other flaw I can name is that of her weak immune system which may kill her in the end with Shepard; a tragic, but awful death. :D

Tali was at one point bent on the destruction of another species...albeit a synthetic one.

And she was gullible enough to think the Shadow Broker would meet her in person, of course that's part of her sweet, naive, first time out of the flotilla charm...YEah..you're right.  She's too perfect.  Can't be real.

MUST...BE...A REAPER!

Even with the flaws she can be sweet.  The way she feels about her family. Tender and caring for Shep when the normady was grounded. I thought that was a great scene. He was down and she showed she wanted to lift him up.She has his back.
She is not one demensional. Many layers.
Ash I like.

Off to play.

Ash is waiting on Noveria still. Her and I still gotta help Liara find her mom.

We are a bit worried about Liara. We try to talk to her, she just keeps saying

" I don't like this place, to many dark secrets" Ash says we will get her through it.

I loved that scene! The LI was really there for Shep and it showed the closeness that was between the pair.

That type of scene is what was sadly lacking in any of the male ME2 romances. All of the romance conversations you have with the female LI's are all focused on the LI. As Shep, you have to reassure Miranda that what's between them is 'real' and to hell with the timing. You have to reassure Jack that you care for her and you aren't just going to use her and dump her. You have to reassure Tali that you want her and to hell with the complications.

Just once it would have been nice for the LI's to be there for Shep, to make sure he was OK, instead of Shep being the strong one all the time.

Excellently put! And I agree about the ME2 romances, there was no give and take between Shep and the choosen LI, they felt very one sided.

That "almost kissed" scene in ME1 only really worked for me with Ashley. Kaidan was too offputting and I didn't understand what he was rambling about half the time, Liara was better but she was too... I don't know, she was acting like herself so I guess that says enough.

Before we knew exactly how Me3 was gonna be. The whole shep dies, cerberus revives him,.. yada yada thing.
Some were thinking mayber shep would be taken prisoner .So i had this thought about Ashley saving Shep.
She would go on a killing spree to save her captain. I wouldn't wont to be the idiot standing between her and Shep. It would be nice if she would save him for once.

Well put, Midnight.  Maybe this is why I don't feel any real connection witn the ME2 romances.  It's all "MEMEME!" with them.  JEBUS!  Holy crap!  Could you just ONCE ask ME how I'm doing?

That was another thing missing from ME2.  Shepard's vulnerability.  In that locker scene in ME1, no matter who your romanced, Shepard was a beaten and frustrated and nearly broken man (or woman).  You could tell by the way he just slumped down on the locker the way he did.  He had given up.  And there was the love interest ready to tell him it would be okay and give him a pep talk.

Badpie, you summarize Ash so well. Maybe you should send Bioware some of your fanfics and see if theyll let you write her character for ME3. how awesome would that be?Posted Image
