Yeah, I'm sick off all the overly dramatic stuff. It's cool occasionally but eventually it feels like a soap opera.

I agree. Virmire was hard, and no matter how many times I do it, the choice always hurts. However, the only reason I don't kill off people in ME2 (besides Jacob on my infiltrator) is to see their stories next time around; the impact of their deaths isn't as great.
Although I think if Legion or Garrus died it would be painful to see. *shrugs* I never had to worry much about it because I figured it out just fine my first try and have only had one carefully selected death in my games.
EDIT: Forgot to finish my thoughts...
If they made more 'shocking' deaths in ME3 on your crew, I think it would be just like ME2 was for me... not quite as devastating as I've been there before. Although I'd be royally annoyed and angry if it cost me one of the crew I love.
