That would have been good, I guess bioware just wanted to put something in from ME1 love interests but didn't have enough time/didn't care enough to do it properly, well heres hoping to a more important roll in ME3Cpl_Facehugger wrote...

Hopefully they will both have a chance to make up... epically and repeatedly.

The point is Bioware deliberately tried to drive a spike through your relationship. Which, in my opinion, makes the Ashley/kaiden romances that much better than the others, because they now go through a period where you become really close, then break apart, and finally can choose to get back together again, hopefully even closer than before. As painful as it is (and it is painful), ME2 really does a lot to develop the relationship, assuming that Bioware comes through in ME3.
I agree. Well if anything it's definitely the most INTERESTING romance of the game series now.
I really am enjoying the angst.

Yeah the story arc of your ME1 LI ditching you (sort of) makes it that more meaningful if you stay faithful to themSpectre_Shepard wrote...

First of all I would have tried to contact her immediately. When she called me out for that, I was like, I WANTED to but the game never gave the option.
I know, right? I even went to Anderson first after getting Garrus and Mordin specifically to ask where Ash is. I got "I can't tell you. It's classified and you're working with Cerberus."
I would have really liked to tell Ash that I did look for her and nobody had any clue where she was.

Hopefully everything that happened with Ashley in me 2 was a mere test, and those of us that love Ashley and stayed faithfull will be rewarded to an extent which makes everyone else jealous! Theres is clearly alot of hope still left in the relationship, from the encounter on horizon, the email and the holding of Ashleys pictures before entering the relay. What bioware has done to the relationship has just made it even more interesting!
I actually thought that had happened after watching the Horizon cutscene, it made me go through Horizon with a sense of urgancy trying to rescue her from the collectors lol, and then she suddenly appears.. good old Ash wasn't going to get taken by those collectors!

Before going through the relay, my dirty mind imagined tentacle sex, and lots of it. Like one of those asari-hanar porn games, except even creepier because it's Ash.
But fortunately she managed to somehow escape being captured. I wonder how, 'cuz it looked like the swarm was baring down on her.

She ends the conversation with a warning for you to watch your back with Cerberus. My Shepard took that to heart and left with a feeling that Ash still cares for her as a friend. She still trusts Ash and will want her on her team in ME3. Hopefully she can regain Ash's trust. I don't think this will be too difficult since it's quite clear that Ashley stiill respects the Commander, and my Shepard doesn't follow Cerberus anymore.

I think the characterization is consistent with all three characters. Tali's trust is frankly unreasonable given Cerberus-Quarian relations, but it's supposed to be unreasonable: she's in a state of puppy love with male Shep, or hero worship with FemShep. Garrus, meanwhile, is in a state where he tried to be a leader of a squad like Shep and (in his own eyes) failed badly, so now he's falling back to being a follower of Shep. So these two aren't following Shep for wholly rational or morally laudable reasons -- it's not a reasonable, thoughtful sort of trust that should be commended, where the focus is that they're setting aside personal qualms for the good of the universe. It's more about them personally, their psychological needs that are fulfilled by being around Shep. It's just that that pushes them in an opposite direction than Ash, borderline-unreasonable trust versus borderline-unreasonable distrust.Cpl_Facehugger wrote...
It's really sad/distressing because even Garrus and Tali, both characters who have a lot less reason to give Shep the benefit of the doubt, trust Shep's judgement enough to listen to him, while Ash does not.
Yes, and all the more reason she'd be devastated and lash out if she thought that maybe she was wrong about that connection, about being able to trust someone. Again, you're meeting right after a battle in which Ash was paralyzed and forced to watch as a third of the colony she was trying to defend was abducted by aliens that the group Shep is working for had lured there. (A group that you also spent much of your brief time together with Ash fighting.) I think she's entitled to be a little abrupt.Cpl_Facehugger wrote...
It sounds like it's enough time to develop a deep connection with someone. Especially when you've got the cascading effect that comes when you rely upon someone to save your life in combat. Ashley obviously thought there was a connection; she didn't seem like the type to sleep with someone unless she genuinely cared for and trusted them.

I felt that she cared deeply for Sheperd. I like her loyalty and her
romance honestly. Ashley will above all always be a great friend. I
think she is a well designed and written character.
Indeed, the email was very touching aswell.

Seriously, she barely acts happy to see you and doesn't even care that no one else but Cerberus is trying to do something about the colony abductions. I also wanted to thank her for her vote of confidence in my ability to make smart decisions.
I had the same reaction as Ash. "THAT'S IT?!"
WTF SHEPARD?!
Again, they both handled it badly. It was the most awkward situation they could ahve possibly found themselves in.
I seriously wanted to smack my Shepard upside the head and say "What's a matter with you?!"
I was especially WTFing at that part when Ash admits that she loved him, and he just kinda ignores it.
I was waiting for Shepard to gently place his hand on her face and say, "I love you too Ash."
GRRRRRR!

I don't know about that. She makes it abundantly clear (at least on a paragon run, haven't done a real renegade run yet) that she doesn't trust Cerberus as far as she can throw them. She's there because she trusts Shep, not Cerberus. I'm not sure it's borderline unreasonabele trust on her part, though I admit that maybe I'm blinkered because I know that Shep is trustworthy and is only working with Cerberus because they gave him a nice ship.
Garrus, meanwhile, is in a state where he tried to be a leader and (in his own eyes) failed badly, so now he's falling back to being a follower of the most successful leader he knows. So these two aren't following Shep for wholly rational or morally laudable reasons -- it's not a reasonable, thoughtful sort of trust that should be commended, where the focus is they're setting aside personal qualms for the good of the universe. Maybe, I could understand that characterization of Garrus. What about Chakwas? She trusts Shep too even when she's mainly there for Joker.

I don't know, it still seemed too abrupt. I mean, she'd had to have heard all the shooting and concluded that obviously Cerberus wasn't working with the collectors.

I'm actually not entirely convinced TIM wasn't working with the Collectors. In fact I'm almost certain he is the nastiest most power hungry manipulative thing int he universe and he was playing both sides. I feel like the Alliance might kinda know what's up when they thought Cerberus was working with the COllectors.

I find that your supported theory has many holes and inconsistencies. For instance; one could instantly rip apart your paper thin argument by bringing attention to the fact that people like Ashley. I count myself among said people. Thus I conclude that you two either have no use of your occular nerves, or you just like trolling threads. I'll go with the latter.
