Actually, I've just thought of what Ashley 'Almost' did in that conversation with Shepard we were talking about a few pages ago - again, I don't think it was almost killed herself - I think she almost stopped believing in God. Which, to her, would be a BIG thing, after all.

Never thought of that, although it could also be that she almost moved on and forgave herself for Shep dying (she seems to always blame herself for everything, even if it aint her fault at all) Although i doubt Bioware will add anything to it lol.

On horizon when she says "I almost" i tend to think its more along the lines of quitting the alliance. As to suicide people say its out of character, but ash is like a gobstopper hard on the outside gooey in the middle its a good blend, and in the end she stuck it out and survived thats in character. Simply saying she wouldnt contemplate it would either make her out to the a 2d character or relatively unfeeling. After all if the love of your life died on you are you seriously saying at no point wouldnt you consider suicide at all? The fact she went through it all and perceived stays more true to her strong character than just simply not having an emotional reaction to it.
offtopic god this thread moves fast every time i check there are at least 3 new pages

And @ xenophobic ho bag commentor...Ehem
Ash is not racist. And Ash is not a ho bag. Allow me to systematically dismantle the most common evidentary points for Ash being a racist.
Point one: " Ash doesn't want aliens in the vital parts of the ship."
Counterpoint:
Would you like Russians at NORAD? Perchance North Koreans hanging out
on the Ronald Reagan? It's a security issue. She's a marine. It's a
logical concern. Let me tell you right now, if I'm on duty and someone the exact same race, sex, creed, and nationality as me walks up and asks for access to a secret part of a building without credentials, I'm gonna tell him no and probably put in a call to PMO.
Point two: "The bear comment."
Counterpoint:
I know, human syntax is hard to get a hold of but it's pretty obvious
she was voicing her worries that the council will sic humanity on the
bear. She WASN'T saying, "Hey Shep, let's send the aliens to their
doom."
Point three: "Sometimes she's the one to put Wrex down."
Counterpoint:
You ordered her to be ready to do that and we all know their health
goes back up to half or more as soon as they hit the ground. So you
don't want your people following your orders? That's an interesting leadership trial
Besides, she's concerned for her commander/boyfriend.
Point four: "I can't tell the animals from the aliens."
Counterpoint:
Yeah, let me be the first to admit if I was wondering around and ran
into a big floating jellyfish, I'd probably think he was an escapee
from a local aquarium exhibit. I guess I'm racist now. Humans have only been galactic citizens for what 26 years now and Ash has mostly been groundside? Think about how many species there must be in that Universe, besides the ones they've shown us.

after thinking about it, this does seem very likely. good point. I can definitely see how this might have happened, although she does mention praying for Shepard in her email.
the point about her almost leaving the alliance is also a good idea. at some point, losing all your friends has got to wear on you.

Just stopping by to show my support for Ash. Hated to have to choose between her and Kaidan on Virmire just because I thought the relationship between Ash, Shep, and Kaidan was so good. Not fun breaking up a team like that...anyway it's good to see your thread still growing.
