Just stopping by to show my support for Ash. Hated to have to choose between her and Kaidan on Virmire just because I thought the relationship between Ash, Shep, and Kaidan was so good. Not fun breaking up a team like that...anyway it's good to see your thread still growing.

Thanks for the support.
I agree about breaking up the team. I would always go talk to all of my team after a mission. Usally save Virmire for last, I chose to save Ashley of course . But the ship feels empty to me without Kaidan.

The "Almost" line could have meant anything really.

Whatever she "Almost" did, I really couldnt blame her. Unit dies on Eden Prime (Full of good friends) Kaidan dies on Virmire (Good friend) Shepard dies and she is onboard one of the last emergency escape pods.

The Ash/Kaidan friendship is really underrated and I wish it was expanded on more. I dont think Kaidan wanted Ash, But Ash saw Kaidan as one of the only Humans aboard the Normandy and I think she went to talk to him a lot.

Kaidan isnt as bad as I thought either. Replaying ME1 the past 3 days or so, not getting very far because I am not good with Sentinels( But im starting to learn).

I love that song. Knightfly used the phrase business time and I linked that song. He knew it to.

Hehe, yeah. We might not be growing as far as the Tali one, but we aren't doing too badly ourselves :D

I think the almost line implied she contemplated suicide. *sad bunny*

Agreed galaxy / ME2 without Ash just isn't the same.

I gotta say I love all the Kaidan fan support for Ash. I would like to give more support  on his thread, but the shirtless Kaidan still scares me. :)

Hahahaha....then you really don't want to see what they've done with the animated gifs right now.

I think Fortunesque said it best when she said "Our thread is kind of like the tampon aisle at a supermarket.  Not many men are brave enough to venture there."

We need Ashley Not just because of the love interest, but to bring the alliance back to reality. Reminding them of all the side missions that we helped the alliance with. Of course their is great sadness that she was not part of the fight on this mission...and I didn't have a relationship with no one else hoping Ashley would return. Careless Ashley Is and always will be part of my crew

Okay Ash fans, I'm making a Shepard/Ash video :)
What I need is a song for the video, any suggestions?

Okay, almost quitting the Alliance is a reasonable guess too. I like that idea and her seriously thinking about suicide, but going on with her life just to survive for Shepard; thinking that's what he would want if he were in Heaven. I like the idea of her losing faith too.

And yeah, fans of this game are pretty much all xenophiliacs, of course. I still think it was an original and creative move for Bioware to include one (or a few) humans who aren't ready to jump into bed with a bunch of space birds that were ready to bomb our species into submission, space frogs who are known mainly for being extremely violent and were only defeated in a galactic war when a bio-weapon was used to make them sterile, and tentacle heads whose only goal as a species seems to be working as strippers for seedy clubs.

And people being people, of course, can't stand that a character is cautious about aliens. So they'll write her off as a "xenophobic ho bag" and then leave cause they are trolling after all. But my longwinded point is this... it contributes to the thread count so we should embrace them.

Agreed! Though the Asari do the seedy clubs AND merc-band fighting AND leadership.

Oops, just skimmed over the last few pages. My bad! Finally sitting down to read your whole story now. And I just noticed you changed your signature Doug. You want Jack and Jacob back now too then?

First time poster here and I think it is fitting that I post here :)

Ashley was probably my second favourite character (behind Garrus) in the first game and I really enjoyed her character; especially opening her eyes to accepting aliens aboard the ship. There were many touching moments in the first game and I was fairly disappointed to discover that she would not be returning as a squad member in ME2 (although I understood the choice considering the plot involving a suicide mission)

I was so very excited to see her appear in ME2, but then I felt a little betrayed that after all we went through, I didn't even have a dialogue option to make her understand. My responses were so vague and incriminating that I totally saw where she was coming from. I am glad she had the cameo, but I felt it wasn't handled delicately (fans didn't seem to be in mind when writing the scene)

I had pretty much decided that Ashley had fallen to the wayside and the writers were pushing for the player to accept a new love interest for ME2. I was saddened that I was going probably going to end up romancing someone else, and feeling as though I was betraying her. And then the e-mail came. My feelings went from mixed back to what they were beginning ME2. The scene right before you jump through the relay was equally powerful and made me feel that I was making the right choice. I like Tali, I like Miranda, hell, I even like Jack, but I feel Shepard and Ashley is the way this series is supposed to be.

I support Ashley returning in ME3 fully. Whether it be as a squad mate, a member of the Normandy Crew, lots of scenes involving her and Shepard (wedding perhaps?), or whatever, but not another cameo like in ME2. Not another half-baked conversation that leaves me frustrated and wondering why I bothered involving myself with her in the first place. I think Bioware is a very smart developer and knows what they are doing so I probably don't have to worry. Let's just hope I am right

Heh, I figured there was already enough Tali support, so I figured I'd switch banners. As for JAck and JAcob, well, they aren't my favourite characters AT all, but I figure some people like them, and they where LI's for some people, so what the hell.

I would disagree that they were trying to force you towards one of the new LI's and, I'll be honest, of course they weren't thinking of the fans - if they thought of the fans every time they did something, nothing interesting would happen because it would upset someone's fans somewhere.

And if this is the 'Empire Strikes back' of Mass Effect, the mixed romance stuff is actually fairly spot on - "Will Han Solo be rescued so that him and Princess Leia can finally get together?" and when she said "I love you" he just replied with "I know".

But yeah, BW can't win. If they'd included Ashley in the squad list, people would complain about losing her in the final mission.

That's... very reasonable of you! Lol. I just played Jacob's loyalty mission last night, and it still disturbs me how it's presented... but Jacob merely goes from confused to "What a coward, nothing I didn't already know, but he's gonna pay so let's keep shooting these mechs down to get to him." Never seeming tortured in the slightest about this.

And I'm going to be romancing Jack on my renegon Shepard, I figured she made the most sense since he has the colonist and ruthless backgrounds and he's only now toning down his searing hatred for Batarians (and mild disdain towards other aliens) and he finds someone who's as, if not more, tortured than he is. So, they'll be my melodrama couple. :wizard:

I read all of your story now, and I really enjoyed it! Mostly the prologue with the Normandy under attack and the entire sequence for Ashley's cat-and-mouse hunt with the Batarians. If you'd like I can make some feeback/criticisms in a PM or something.
