Much like an earlier commenter I succumbed to Tali, but will have a loyal Ash playthrough as well. This has probably been discussed somewhere in these 800+ pages, but can someone explain to me all the comments I see that Ash is a "bi***" and "can't stand her mouth". After multiple playthroughs of both games the only thing that would support this is the schizophrenic meeting with Shepard on Horizon (You're a god, no wait you're a traitor) and I really blame that on her shock at running into the supposedly dead Shepard face to face and poor reunion scripting by Bioware. Miranda is much more bi***y until you do her loyalty mission, but I never read those comments about her (except the ones I posted). I don't see her xenophobia falling into this category as this is more of a character flaw that you can see her grow out of, making her much more interesting as a character. It is also understandable given her grandfather's history and previous lack of exposure to aliens.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I really am confused by the Ash hate I see. She is a much more complex and interesting character than many other options and expresses a genuine commitment to Shepard that she herself is confused about in ME2. There are plot hooks that can be used very well in ME3, in particular her desire to martyr herself to redeem her family and her religious viewpoint and how it may conflict with the existence of the Reapers. The fact the Bioware shafted her in ME2 is no reason to reject the character given how interesting she could be in ME3. Hopefully she will get better treatment and I certainly support her as a squadmate and LI in ME3.

That's funny. I am playing ME1 again and my wife (who plays Dragon Age) just looked up during a conversation I was having with Ash and asked "Why would anyone pick Miranda over Ashley?".

The reason people hate her comes down to ignorance, I believe. She doesn't hate aliens she distrusts them, a completely reasonable mindset when you can't even truly trust most other humans! They also dislike her because of her not joining Shepard on Horizon, they seem to forget she is military and thus can't go gallavanting about the galaxy whenever she chooses. If she left she would be accused of deserting.

She has hung out with me and watched me play the ME games (which are quite cinematic) and played a bit of ME herself. She just prefers Dragon Age and has played that all the way through twice. I also ramble on about stuff from ME and she is very patient with listening to me. I have a great wife.

My old xbox finally died a few weeks ago, so I can no longer play Kotor 1 or 2 either. I miss them more than I can say. I'll get Kotor 1 from Steam eventually, I'm sure.

Exactly, get them on computer. There are a ton of mods out for KOTOR on the PC.
