Just had the dialogue with Ashley unsure about having the aliens onboard the Normandy. Everytime I go through that scene the more angry and confused I get as too how people can say she is being racist.

Thats not what shes saying at all, she even tells you that!

People just jumped on the bandwagon of everyone else saying Ash was racist.

I have 3 mains myself: MShep sentinel (did not romance/romanced Tali), Mshep Infiltrator (romanced Ashley, no ME2 romance), and a FShep vanguard (romanced Liara/romanced Garrus).



No infidelity for my Male Shepards, because ParaShep wouldn't do that IMO, and it would be wrong to cause that kind of drama to Jack, Tali, or Ashley. The Miranda hook-up (it is far, far to casual to call a romance IME) is about as negligible as Kelly.



Female Shepard on the other hand, it is VERY clear that whatever you had with Liara is over, so I have no guilt about her finding comfort in the arms of one of her most trusted companions (Tali being the other most trusted).

If I remember correctly, its more of a distrust for aliens she doesn't know (seems to get alone fine with garrus and tali). It's definitely not racism, as she doesn't think humans are better than aliens. So anyone that thinks she's racist is an idiot.



It's been so long since I've gotten some Ashley dialogue though.

I'd say she is more
xenophobic than racist - she even admits she doesn't trusts aliens.  Mostly (also from dialogue) because of lack of exposure.
Note, I don't consider her opinion as extreme, or even unreasonable.  She is simply more conservative than Shepard or Kaidan in regards to aliens.  And she does try and get better (does she succeed..............not enough info to reach consensus).

She's not as conservative as the Terra Firma party, for example.  Or Cerberus for that matter.  Still, it IS there.

Distrust is not the same as racism. It's perfectly reasonable to distrust something that can crush you like a bug.
