Technically it is. You never really own the game. you just own the right to play the copy of the game that comes off the disc. Or something. It's weird.

This question sucks...
I owned a copy of BF2 but the thing wouldn't install on my new computer. I had to DOWNLOAD one and use my key to get it working.
I see nothing wrong with it but others may.

I only asked because I know emulators arent illegal if you already own it, or so I have heard. If I im wrong sorry.

Also, you don't go to jail for downloading games. A few things can happen. Almost always your ISP will receive complaints from the copy write holders or 3rd party businesses which make money off of watching torrents. Once they have so many complaints they will send you a letter telling you to knock that **** off. If you keep doing it, which you're an idiot if you keep doing it after you know your ISP is watching you, then I think they'll terminate your service. Almost always, thats the end of it.

I suppose they could just fine you depending on what program you download or if you continue even after the letter. Jail time is usually reserved for those that are distributing the copy write material. And you always hear about those cases.
