Sure they do. But the point is they're like one collective species. They're the Borg basically. So killing a single Geth is more like an amputation or something than a murder.

No, not necessarily. The memories are only stored once a platform reconnects with the other geth and shares those memories. If it never reconnects and you kill it, then those memories are lost for good.... period. Even with that being said, there is some form of separation between individual geth programs that allows them to all know the same thing but not necessarily agree about it as evidenced by Legion's inability to come to a consensus about the use of the Heretic virus. Whether you want to believe it or not, each Geth program is an "individual".
