Last thing, I felt EXACTLY like you do right now about 2 months ago.

Well - thank you.  Cuz I feel like this Ashley chick can go to hell ;)    And don't see why, no matter the history, any Shepard character would ever want to listen to a word she had to say ever again.

As far as her assistance with the Council?  What about Anderson?  He knew these things before the Horizon incident ever happened.  He said he was trying and trying to convince them of Reaper threat, et al....  why does Ash get all this credit?  I missed something in the "news" then if she defended Shepard.  She sure blew it in my book.
And - I still doubt that I will feel exactly as you do about 2 months from now.  But thank you :)

You are far from the only person to be pissed off about the horizon encounter. Shepard never gets told no. From anybody. So when ash/kaidan actually do it, everyone threw a tantrum. How dare these characters not idolize shepard. :P

Garrus shouldn't have a problem with cerberus because he thinks just like they do. The only reason Tali follows you is because she has some serious hero worship of shepard going on. Someone else explained why some of the crew "quite" (they didn't really, the alliance sorta forced them out).

have you played ME1?

I don't expect your opinion to change right away, mine sure didn't. Or it might not change at all, I really don't care all that much. This is all just stuff to think about. I praise BioWare for writing a scenario which wasn't as black and white as it initially appears to be. I would like to point out, they did something similar with liara as well.

Anyways, I have a stats exam tomorrow, so I'm going to sleep. Goodnight all.

Imagine if a friend or your girlfriend died. Terrible right? Now imagine if they came back two years later working for Al-Qaida. That is a similar situation to what Shepard and Ashley are in right now. Also, as nice as it is to believe so, real people don't trust unconditionally. Most people will always have doubts.

Hmm.. sounds bad.  But Al-Qaida?  Not quite a proper analog, is it?  Terrorist yes - but Cerbrus are pro-human right?  Did they bomb the Alliance and such alot?  Hmmm - ok.  if they did, then - just complete the scenario you described:

"...came back two years later working for Al-Qaeda, but then SAVING you from the now clearly hostile Canadians - who were abducting your entire town in a scary and insidious way -- and after saving you, saying that Al Qaeda are just financing their fight against these terrible Canadians (ok - I should probably go with Iranians or something?) that are CLEARLY bad guys right now... and then saying "You KNOW me.  "  The U.S. are denying everything and doing nothing about these abductions, but Al Qaeda - they are at least trying to fight for our colonists.  No?  You still think I am scum now?  Bummer... guess I'll go hang out with Joker and Garrus and my funny engineering team that are ex-Alliance, and our old friend Tali too.  You don't love me anymore???  Come on - I was in a coma.  I couldn't call you - my cellular account had been deactivated because I was, well, dead.  Come on Ashley --- please?  :)

I see your point but as bad as my dialogue choices may have been - she showed her "true colors" when she decided to believe the Alliance over Me -- and to be loyal to the Alliance, instead of me.  Yes- I cannot let go of it.  I am trying... trying... trying... she has that GREAT ass...  dang it... but no --- she aint no friend o'mine no more.  :)

They are like a white power organization. Just because I'm white doesn't mean I approve of them. They want human domination. I dunno, I don't see many people reacting well in that situation.

I just have to pop in here with that though this may be the case with some people, in the vast majority of cases it's that their reactions don't make any real sense at all. Can't come with us? Sure, we can accept that. But don't pretend we're just some kind of Benedict Arnolds because we're doing what needs to be done when nobody else wants to do it. There needs to be an interrupt there to slap some damn sense into Ash/Kaidan. Remember that time we STOLE the Normandy because nobody was doing anything? Yeah, this totally ISN'T like that at all. /sarcasm

.... How dare these characters not idolize shepard. :P

You realize that in the scene we are discussing, Ashley calls Shepard a Hero, and then says "You are looking at a GOD" to the colonist guy.  So...  yeah- I guess it seems that Ashley's a fairly inconsistent character.  Number one reason - she was supposedly one of the CLOSEST to Shepard (assuming that, friend or lover, she loved him more than most anyone else) -- so why would she throw out all her experience which tells her he CAN be trusted (am I wrong? Is that not what her ME1 experience would have been?), and instead just decide HE must be either a traitor or just a fool or delusional?   You really buy that, or is it cuz you have been selling it for two months?  :)  Put another way - perhaps you cannot accept that the TRUE hero (Ashley, in your world maybe?) would be wrond about anything - or rather be inappropriate in her response to the situation?   I see that you'd prefer a little pushback or anti hero-worship to the trusting puppydog Tali.  OK.  The engineers didn't sound like they were forced out from Alliance.  Sounded like they took OFFENSE at Shepard being sullied after his death (i.e. his rep) and decided that the Alliance was not worthy of their allegiance.

Garrus shouldn't have a problem with cerberus because he thinks just like they do. The only reason Tali follows you is because she has some serious hero worship of shepard going on. Someone else explained why some of the crew "quite" (they didn't really, the alliance sorta forced them out).

I haven't that was part of my point - I am not swayed by previous character fondness or loyalty.  I see Ash for just what she presented in the Horizon scene.  Despite rather insufficient support for Shepard, i.e. Dialogue choice, she did not rely upon her (years? months?) previous experience with Shepard, which I assume were GOOD or she would not have, just moments before, referred to him as a HERO and as a GOD.  (Sounds a little like worship, epoch_, I have to say).....   If he was the Hero and "God" like man she stated, why would she believe such terrible things about him so readily --- despite his (trying) stating the contrary and his actions right there, having SAVED her (I repeat) from a certain death (near certain?) at the hands of the Collectors?  Nope --- forget all the overwhelming evidence right in front of my face.... he says Cerbrus brought him back - so nothng else, no matter how obvious, matters...   So, you say in the next post I think that SHE tries to convince the Alliance of Reaper threat and of Shepard being good despite Cerbrus affiliation ---  well - that means she "came to her senses"?  No?     If so -- then that means that her initial response was emotional  and not rational -- as Shep and others assert...  so, if she changed her mind after a little time passed -- then it means it needed changing?

OK - we don't agree.  You're clearly a kid (college anyway) - so, respect your elders and adopt my opinion, even if it is just going back to one you held previously.  Just accept it.

(That was sarcasm on a large scale) --- thanks for the invite, epoch_  :)
