Do you think Tali's interest is just a crush?

Not to mention that if you ask her about it on Illium, she tells you how she could not let you go, and gave you to Cerberus in the hope that they might be able to bring you back to life.
(I know she says this whether Shepard romanced Liara or not, but I if you DID romance her, it has romantic connotations. If you didn't, then it was more of a "he's the only hope the galaxy has" type of thing.)
Ashley is also a strong love, but in a different sense and maybe not as strong as Tali or Liara. I think she buried her feelings because losing Shepard was too hard for her, so when she saw Shepard again she just kinda flipped out. She does say in her email that she doesn't want to lose you again, and to stay alive. Ashley still cares, in her own way.
Damn, long post. So to clarify, yes definitely I think Tali and Liara both have the "deepest" relationship with Shepard. I think Ashley's love for Shepard started out as a mix of physical attraction and him being her superior, and she admired that. Miranda I think just wants the sex. But Tali and Liara's feelings for Shepard seem the most genuine.

Color me stupid in regards to romance or love for that matter, but was there ever any indication that Tali had a thing for Shepard back in ME1, on the old Normandy. I went through all of the dialogue options with her and can't find a single reference or hint that she would be interested in Shepard, in that way.
Did I miss something?
It was pretty apparent to me in ME1. It was in the sound of her voice and how she loved talking with you at every opportunity. To the point I thought she was a possible LI in that game and was sad it didnt work out that way. I felt a much stronger connection with her in that game than any of the actual LIs.
Also the body language thing Kelly mentioned? That actually started in the first game.
Also Cassy or one of the other devs revealed that at one time they had planned Tali to be romnacable in ME1 (and maybe Garrus as well not sure) but weren't certain how people would react so they were dropped. Two years and gods know how many Tali/Garrus love threads later the devs went ahead with the Tali and Garrus romances

Since there was no actual romance development, yes.
Not suitable for a reproductive relationship anyways, and that's in our (and in Shepard's by extension) genes anyways.
because reproduction is always the determining factor in being with someone.

actually the exact quote is

Heck, that line alone makes the romance far deeper than most of the others. Jack's has some substance to it, as well.

Tali states she has been in love with you since the events of ME1 and Kelly Chambers noticed lustful body language as soon as Tali was brought on board the Normandy, she just bottled up her feelings in ME1 (i.e. Bioware is retroactively applying character traits which isn't retconning anything but just telling the PC about part of a character that wasn't fully explored given the resources of ME1)
Doesn't change the fact that she was still nothing more than a talking encyclopedia in ME1.
Her infatuation may have started in ME1, but its a bit of a reach to think Tali's romance started in ME1.

But that is not what is up for debate, we were debating whether Tali loved Shepard in ME1, which she did, not whether Tali and Shepard were an item. Shepard (the character) is not aware of Tali's feelings until ME2.

listen to her words
"I watched your face when Alenko died on virmire, I watched you for so long....and I always thought you'd never see past.....this" for instance
listen to her voice break down just a little when she thanks you for allo0wing her to know your feelings about her.....and again when she confesses that she wants to risk dying just to make love to you (something along the lines of "in most cases interspecies relationships are done outside the suit with neuro stimulators and such.....but I want to feel your skin agaisnt mine" followed by "I could get a rash......or maybe a fever....or I could die)
you REALLY think she would go through that much just for a crush?
Fangirl pounce of love ftw?
hehe you are talking to the guy who invented the term "quarian pounce" when the first tali love vid was released.......so....yeah.....quarian pounce FTW
The 'Quarian Pounce' is my favorite part of the whole romance <3

I'm not the one who put up Tali's romance starting in ME1 up for debate.
Tali fans did.

I treat her badly in ME1, and then hand her friend over to an organization she hates, and she still obsesses over me as soon as I recruit her.

Yeah that would be a bit strange. Tali fallling for a paragon Shep that helped her I can see. A Shep that basiclly spits in her face not so much. Ah well, guess the writers didn't want to automatcially end the talimance if you were unkind to her. Would have been more realistic though.

It was quite disappointing to talk to her again after the mission. She shouldn't ask if Shepard's "still interested" straight away, not after all that happened.

Since you reposted the thread, I'll repost my reply.
One person's 'crush' is another's Love at first sight.
If it were just a crush, she wouldn't have held onto those for the two years you were gone. She wouldn't have wrote about missing you in her logs, etc, etc.
Even Kaidan/Ash moved on after just a year.
She did?
