Can you imagine ugly shepard taking her mask off? Turns out, Tali looks exactly like him! Seriously though, it did seem like she really cared about Shepard, but since the game is all about you putting yourself in the role of Shepard, the relationship should be however deep you feel it should be.

you REALLY think she would go through that much just for a crush?

 I totally agree with you, I mean you wouldn't risk dying just to have sex with someone you only have a crush on, it's definitely love

Pretty much. Also, from an RP perspective, I think it's quite wrong
for Shepard to romance Tali (at least in the way portrayed in-game)
because of the health risk. Sure, metagaming says she won't die, but
there's no way for Shepard to know that.

That brings up a
greater gripe I have with the male ME2 romances (haven't played female
yet) - they all revolve around bedding someone - not bonding. This is
doubly out-of-place in the Talimance. In ME, it seemed like Shepard's
relationship with Liara, Kaiden or Ashley was based on getting to know
one another.

HMmm.... no.



But, that said, Tali Romance has room to evolve. In ME2 you just "start" a love (yes, I don't think it's "just a crush") relationship, but many things can happen during ME3. I want my Shepard and Tali to be together, but I would be surprised if that was easy.
