I have a new utc that spawns, speaks and joins party. I can't figure out
how to set starting attribute values such as for strength, dexterity etc. Is it a part of the CreateObject(OBJECT_TYPE_CREATURE,... script. If so, how is it set. I could find specific attributes in toolset only under Constants (PROPERTY_ATTRIBUTE_'attr name'). I'm sure it is probably simple but I put 'attribute' in forum search engine and did not get anything useful. Any help is appreciated.

Or is this social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Follower_tutorial#Setting_Stat_Weights the only way? The companion will be level 8 so scaling to hero isn't an issue.

Yes, the attributes are set through the creature property values. It's not recommend to set them manually. You could if you want fix values for the whole game. If you want to set the attributes on each level, something like a level up template makes it easier to maintain. The tutorial describes how to use the official one for custom followers. No, it's not the only way. Writing an own level up system is somewhat complex though.
SetCreatureProperty(OBJECT_SELF,PROPERTY_ATTRIBUTE_STRENGTH,20.0);
at the very end of the creature's spawn event, for example, after the auto-scaling.
Edit: Forgot - followers get a new scaling when recruited (ugh), so probably you want to set your values again after the event EVENT_TYPE_PARTY_MEMBER_HIRED.

Magic - Thank you.
I know base game companions are scaled to Hero. I've decided stats, skills and talents on this companion regardless of Hero level. I appreciate the after hire reminder. Took another look at social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Follower_tutorial#Create_a_Level_Up_Template
Doesn't look too bad. Thanks again.
