I lost power while playing ME2 and when I restarted, I didnt have an option to Resume anymore.  I was able to Load a game but when I did, I had no achievements anymore.  It like its starting the achiements over I am and have been logged into the Cerberus Network.  Ideas from anyone?

Is your My Docs folder in a non-default location? That's whats causing the problem for me. I haven't found a solution as yet... apart from moving My Docs back to default :(

I've got exactly the same issue - PC locked up earlier while playing ME2 (which it seems to do alarmingly often) and when I fired it back up again I had to log back into my EA account, manually load my career and all my achievements are gone.

Not impressed.

What OS are you using? If you're running Vista or Win 7 you may be able to restore an older version of your Player1.prf file which contains your achievement information. Go to Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile right click on Player1.prf and select restore previous versions.

You may still lose some achievements depending on when Windows backed up those files last, but at least it's not a total loss.

Same thing occurred with me.

There isn't a persistent save for achievements? Really? Cmon...

Does the game check if your current savegame and the Player1.prf are from the same date? Or can i use an older Player1.prf with a newer savegame? I made a backup of the Player1.prf, but do i have to make a backup only when i get a new achievement, or more often?
Maybe you know more. Thanks.

Same thing just happened to me, too. Game locked up, had to manually reload my profile, and all achievements were gone (I had nearly all of them, too...). Seems really odd considering I have all the team members and the game should be able to tell that I've completed all of the loyalty missions (since none are available to me). Really bad, BioWare.

The timestamps on the files don't matter, you can use an older player1.prf with a newer savegame.

Happened to me a short while ago too, followed the instructions given by TeddyBearMan and managed to fix most of it.

A thing to remember with the backup files though is that there's only one made per day, and that's during the first instance of that day when the file is accessed. So if you were to play a bit at 10:00am, have lunch, come back at 5:00pm and get fiddle with options/get an achievement, anything that happened to those bits during the day (because the backup was made before you actually started playing) will have been lost.

...Luckily all that was for me was the Brawler achievement from punching Varren, but there's most likely less fortunate people who've lost the endgame or loyalty achievements in a similar fashion and might really not want to do that bit again for a while.

This has happened to me, also. May I suggest using the same thing as Dragon Age? A Player Profile here on Social with all Achivements for ME1 and ME2 so if something bad happens or you re-install all your Achivements are automatically updated?

Else make a patch that fixes this.

Got the same problem, but I've lost all achievements twice on the same profile. Everytime because of game crash. I'm not an achievement hunter :P But when you lost all just before last mission... eh

How to fix:

Go to \\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile then right click on Player1. Click on Properties then on Previous Versions and it should have previous copies of it. You should get your acheivements back.

When are the majority of you experiencing the crash that is causing this issue? The more detailed you can be the better, so including which mission, if there's an event or autosave nearby, etc. would be awesome!

Mannnn, I just got it too, and I can't find a "restore previous version" option anywhere. I lost it on the "Destroy the Blood Pack Base" mission (the one where you shoot four barrels and make the whole base explode).

Happened to me too, just like described in the OP. System suddenly lost power right after the collector ship mission. I left the comm room and went to take the liftt, my pc crashed just when I clicked the floor I wanted to go to. I restarted, had no option to resume but savegames were ok, and I needed to log in again but no previous achievements were registered.

I wouldn't be bothered so much except it happened during a second playthrough, and now I'm not getting the XP bonus from the long service medal. I can't find the option to restore any previous versions either. :(
