Okay, this is my first time playing ME on xbox360.  I got the platinum hits version for 10 bucks at Kmart and I'm trying to decide when I should do Bring down the Sky.  Should it be done before Virmire (to gain some extra XP) or should I wait til after I've done the story so I might be able to snag some good loot?  What have you guys done?

When U complete the game, then U cannot do this assignment.

So I recommend to do it even before Virmire. Nice XP, omni-tool!!! (if Paragon or Renegade), some mini backstory and it's still feeling like kinda normal assignment, but with some little videos.

The omni-tool alone is worth the effort to try early on as it is not a random tool, and is very hard to find even late in the game.

You can do this straight away after you become a spectre and it gives you equipment which will really help you out in the early part of the game.

Ignore Capn' Crash, high-level Omnitools are so hard to find that you're better off waiting until you reach a high level to get something decent. Same goes for Quarian armor, if you're using Tali a lot.

If you also have the Pinnacle Station DLC, you can purchase (randomly) high level Omnitools, Bio Amps and Quarian armor from the retirement house you get for beating all the missions on Pinnacle Station. Mind you, Pinnacle Station can be a serious pain in the ass to complete, especially on higher difficulty settings.

I just only want to add, that yes...U can buy some expensive goods on Intai'sei planet, but for 220.000! BUT I have had a perfect strategy to obtain the items I want and not to buy it randomly and get out of money, becouse they can repeat. So I just saved the position and if I got something twice, then I loaded game and so on >) That was just a lil hint >)

I never had an issue finding high level omni-tools and bio-amps later.  They more difficult to collect but they were obtainable and I seemed to pick up plenty.    The armour on the other hand your right, it is a lot more difficult to find.

If you have Pinnacle Station however it means your going to get lots of high level equipment so your need not worry.

In 6 playthroughs I only found a high-level omnitool from that manufacturer that makes badass bioamps once.

I think you have to be around level 50 to get the X level tool, so it's best to wait. Otherwise you'll end up with a lower level version and no way to get a better one.
