I know this is like from 20 pages back now and I'm only just now catching up, but this was worth bumping. There's two points I'd like to add:

-I think this ties into her whole lack of self-respect. In a lot of her relationships, she's probably thinking, "they want me for my genetically engineered body/intellect...not ME." Because she assigns no value to herself, she keeps people at an emotional and even physical distance.

-I think this is why Miranda's past relationships (poor Jacob) have failed. SleepyBuddha's right, Miranda's almost certainly not a 35-year-old virgin. It's easy to see her warming to potential reomantic partners, and then pushing them away. Maybe she's afraid that they won't like her beyond surface perfection, or maybe, having been treated as a tool by most other people in her life, she doesn't see herself worthy of human relationships.

Now I feel bad about "accusing" her of being jealous. I think I have one game save right before that convo *rushes off to talk to/possibly make out with Miranda*

agree

Hey, their loss ;)

Aesthetics.  I know I love a cute little button... also, she still might have had some form of emryonic growth requiring an umbilical cord.

But wouldn't they need a woman for embryonic process?

Have you seen the movie "The Island" with Ewan McGregor and Scarlet Johansen?

To me, when I heard she was "grown" by her father - how they grew the clones is the first thing I thought of, and probably will continue to think of, until proven otherwise, haha.

Created biochemical feeding device that requires the umbilical cord.  Also, considering that the cord is part of our DNA, it should still "be there" if the child is grown artificially.

That line about admiring Miranda's body isn't actually as bad as I originally thought. I just tried not to concentrate on Shepard's extremely weird facial expressions and it actually sounds a lot better than I remember.

This makes more sense.

One of my heardest choices through the romance is deciding whether to make the comment about admiring her body or asking her if she's jealous (which ultimately leads up to the makeout session.)

The first draws out her coy side and is definatly appealing - while the second choice catches her off guard and seeing how she reacts to it is brilliant.

His facial expressions aren't really that bad if you make your own Shepard. :S But, default Shepard....yea.

I am using a custom Shepard. I don't know, it's still really weird to me.

Yeah, it's definitely hard to decide between whether or not you should give her the compliment or make out with her. I say we make a list of pros and cons :D

I need to bring Miranda on that mission next time. Cerberus has been mostly good to her, and allowed her a chance to excel, it takes time for her to see it as really bad (and not just run-of-the-mill espionage/special operations agency bad.)

It's really simple, but damn does that line carry a lot of complex meanings.  I heard it this last time and was floored.

I usually don't bring Miranda along on Jack's quest just because they don't get along, but I'll definitely do that this time around.

I have yet to make a custom Shepard - I think it's something with "canon", I suppose? The default Shepard is used in all the commercials and whatnot.

I think I need to do a playthrough where I do just that - custom shepard, spacer, war hero.

It will probably screw with your mind. I find it weird to hear my Shepard's voice coming out of someone else's face.

Probably. Plus, if I don't stick with Sole Survivor - then my Shepard won't have an as strong of a reason to distrust Cerberus or Miranda at first.

Bah, even as a Sole Survivor - it was hard NOT to trust Miranda.

;)

Yes.  I have a hard time creating a new Shep and seeing him as Shepard.  I can do it with the femSheps, but not Chris... he is my Shepard.  I couldn't even watch that Miri/Shep tribute without going "Hey, that's not Shepard... get away from her!"

I've been playing again and had that conversation today. Chose for the first time the jealous line to see the kiss.

It was a great scene and I loved her "stop smiling, dammit". But to be honest, I prefer the admiring her body line, which I had chosen initially. I prefer to throw her the bait (so to speak) and wait for her to bite later on (no pun intended).

I feel that by stealing that kiss from her I'm acting without having any consideration for what she wants (which is bad considering her past), while the admiring her body line and conversation that follows is more like I'm saying "I care for you and want to be with you, but only if you want the same", which I think fits more in the context of her life.
