So, I turned on my xbox for the first time today to play a little ME2 and what happens? The sound works, but there's no freakin' video! And my xbox is over warranty. So bummed out right now, guys... At least it waited until I had played through ME2 before dying on me.

You are lucky... my firsr RROD on my first system flatlined my attempts for the first ME1.  I had to wait an extra week!  O so angry... now I worry every time my elite even hiccups.

I for one hope they bring Miranda back as a squadmate/LI in ME3, as well as the rest of the surviving ME2 crew. Interesting article on ME2 here: http://www.destructo...ns-163035.phtml

Perhaps the pertinent part is this quote from Casey Hudson: " One thing we’re going to keep an eye on is how people make use of each of the characters in Mass Effect 2. That will influence our decisions on the importance of those characters in the ongoing story into Mass Effect 3."

So make sure you put Miranda in your squad whenever you play ME2 !!!

so sorry meg. i totally know the feeling. mine RROD'ed after 3 years of loyal service. The week after I went to the store and bought a cheap Arcade to replace it.

But yeah the feeling just suck I know. Hang in there I'm sure a solution is going to present itself. On the bright side it'll give you more time to spend on the forum!

If it's based on squad usage, I don't think Miranda has much to worry about. Overload, Warp, and Cerebrus Officer ftw. The fact she was on my squad a lot of the time certainly helped me warm to her.

(Although there are some characters I like that don't seem that useful at all in combat...I know some people rave about the Combat Drone, but I'm just not feeling it...)

Oooh, nice find.  Luckily, Miranda is the best all-around squad member in combat with her team-enhancing passive talent, warp, and overload.  I would bet that even people who aren't Miranda fans use her a lot. :)

That's a big pile of poo.

There's a small chance it's a problem with your cables, though. (I assume you're not getting the Red Ring?)

"We actually have a pretty long campaign of various types of DLC currently being developed. It will cover the whole spectrum, from free items and content all the way up to several-hour adventures. We’ll be announcing some of the first bits soon, and one of the places you can find news about upcoming DLC is in the Cerberus Network panel on the start menu of the game."

Sounds good! :D

Sorry to hear about that, Meg.  I too had X-Box troubles and just bought a new Elite a week before ME2 came out.  But on the bright side, maybe it's just a problem with your cables?  The cables for my old Pro X-Box got to be pretty finicky after a few years.

This. A loose or shot A/V cable might be your problem, as slim as the chances of that are.

Yeah same here-Miranda has to be one of the most useful squadmates just from a pure gameplay perspective.

I just worry that in ME3 they downplay the ME2 squad to cameos like they did to the ME1 LI's and Wrex.... I have faith that Bioware will do the right thing though.

Regarding Legion, Casey also said: "We’re deep in spoiler territory, but yes, he’s a significant character even though he’s totally optional."

This gives me much hope, considering they would put a large amount of time in an optional character (much like they did with a lot of characters in Dragon Age). Even though a majority of your team can die, making them "optional" in ME3, they still will likely have large and important roles.

This makes me feel a whole lot better about Miri!!

Same.  I LOVE Mordin but I rarely ever put him in my party.  I usually go with Miranda and either Garrus or Jack, depending on what kind of enemies I expect.  The double Overload is great for my Infiltrator and doing a Pull-Slam combo is just fun to watch.

It could be my cables I guess, but I doubt it. I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed since that's a much cheaper solution. Oh well. I'm just thankful I have a hard drive with my playthroughs saved on it. And that I have these forums to get my ME fix at. =]

Well, I suspect character playtime is one of only several variables. Legion is NEVER going to get as much playtime as characters that are obtainable earlier.

(David Gaider mentioned they do the same thing with DAO over on the Awakening forums, so MAYBE Awakening will give us some idea of how Bioware is going to use those data.)

ok I don't know if this has been posted yet (since I haven't been here all day and I see you've been busy lol) but it's an interesting part of an article I found on the ''Bad News'' thread. Here's the most interesting part:

Casey: ''Because we wanted to make sure the love interest can remain an important and integral part of the story, we want that to continue into the third game. We have some really important things we want to resolve there. That means we can't have these characters that were your interests in this suicide mission potentially getting killed and then blocking off that opportunity. They're part of the story. They're part of the ongoing love story but they're not your squad members so that we can be sure that we can bring that love story to its conclusion.''

I imagine it's hard for them to take lots of contradictory feedback. Especially since a lot of the feedback is negative. I don't miss ME1's inventory system (which was a big pain on the Xbox), and I really, really don't miss the Mako. I think most people were like me, which is why they got rid of them for ME2. Now they're both gone, the people who did like them are more vocal.

This is probably even worse when it comes to character feedback--we've talked about how hard it is to gauge character popularity, but how much do you let that influence your design/creative vision? Maybe a character who is kind of blah in one game has a future character arc that will make him completely awesome. It must be hard to strike a balance between being responsive to feedback and full-on fan service. (Because sometimes the game designer is right!)

I'm sure that's in relation to Kaiden, Ashley and Liara, and Shep's potential relationship with them from the orignal ME and not so much in relation to any ME 2 LIs. Could be wrong though.

You might be surprised what they'll pick up on. I remember a feedback thread for ME1/ME2, in which I suggested giving a hash number for face codes that the community could trade. And we got it. Definitely go post your feedback there.

I want planet exploration back, whether that be MAKO or something else, I don't really care.  But the rather limited and linear nature of side quests and planets is disappointing.  As for character feedback... the only consistent negative feedback is Zaaede that I've seen.  There is a vocal enough support for pretty much every squadie from ME1 and ME2 other than him.

As for who must return in my opinion: the ME1 LI/Virmire Survivor and Liara, as well as Miranda, Jacob, Jack, Tali, and Garrus.  Grunt can be explained away as fighting under Wrex/Wreave, Samara could be back but might not, Thane... well you know... and Mordin is one of those on the fence.
