Poor Jacob, I feel so sorry for him. He was all cool and awesome in ME: Galaxy, and in ME2 he's sidelined (even as ME: Galaxy co-star. And although Kaidin did generate some male ire, he certainly has at least something of a fan following. (At least Alistair shows that Bioware can create compelling and popular Male NPCs...)

And I can't help but think how hard it is to get a sense of character popularity. I'd like to think that Miranda has broad mainstream popularity but I have no way of knowing that. (As I've said before, I think she's a strong candidate for an ME3 spot not just based on her popularity, but because she's so tied into ME2, her inclusion would be one of the strongest continuity links with the second game.)

Kaidain is actually deceptively popular, tho I guess its almost completely a female / gay male fandom. His fans aren't noisy and pushy about him like the Tali and Garrus fandoms, and they don't frequent these message boards as much. But check fanfiction and fanart sites, and you'll find plenty of material about him.

Jacob... Doesn't really seem to have made an impact, one way or the other. The only real irritation about him, is that supposedly FemSheps are forced to be at least somewhat flirty with the guy, if you want to talk with him. And that irritates people who either don't want an LI, are trying to stay with Liara or Kaidan, or are aiming for some of the ME2 LIs.

I never really understood the big problem with Kaidan. I'm not a woman, or gay, but I saved him in my main ME 1 playthrough, and I found his mix of tech and biotics useful, and I pretty much always had him in my party.

About ME 2 LIs: I find it necessary to point out that anyone who didn't import a save from the first game doesn't have a romantic interest from the first game. That means that Bioware's whole "three-act-love-story" can't apply to them (that is, everyone they hoped to draw in to the franchise). Also, Bioware has stated that the ME 2 LIs were there to test players' fidelity, but also to provide a LI for someone who didn't have one in ME 1. Bioware can recognize how popular the new ones are, and I believe they could have predicted that people would react amorously to the new LIs. Bioware will provide fitting and fulfilling continuations to all romance plots. That's my opinion, at least.

Also, about the cocktail dress: This could work really well in a DLC where you have to go to a ball or other formal event (think Firefly). Being a guest at the ball would only be a cover for whatever your real mission is, but it would be cool if we had to bring Miranda along and she wore a dress and put her hair up. This would be cool as part of a string of mission that involve hunting down Miranda's father.

I've poked my head in at the Kaidin thread from time to time, to try to see what the appeal is, and I've sort of come to the conclusion that I just was not the target audience for him. (I suppose 'straight male' puts me smack dab center in Miranda's target audience, lol.)

And I'm doing my FemShep playthrough now, and she does seem to shift into flirt-mode pretty quickly. I'll just be taking your armor upgrade and loyalty quest, thank you. And as MaleShep he seemed a less compelling "bromance" character then Garrus (you go back to ME1) or Thane (one of the only LI characters to have lots of dialogue if you're not romancing him.) (Jacob's also not great in combat...even though I do like "Gravity's one mean mother!")

First things first: I do like the idea of going to a ball or other formal event. This reminds me a little bit of the Samara mission set-up, except you're working a high-end, high-class event instead of a nightclub. And putting ManShep in a tux would be almost as awesome as Miranda in a cocktail dress. (I'm trying to decide what works best for FemShep....)

Your logic for ME2 LIs equally applies to potential ME3 LIs; people might buy ME3 without an ME2 save. They might introduce a new character, or they might just give new romance content for existing characters. I think Bioware will want to give everyone a Big Finish for the love story, and if you're a fan of a character from ME1 and been with them throughout, I think that'll make your payoff feel that much sweeter.

...must sleep...can't sleep, but must sleep...

Clearly, Garrus is happy because he's sandwhiched between Miranda pics.

I think we can be sure that after the apparent success of ME2, with many new ME2 noobs, Bioware will still try to make ME3 as noob friendly as they can.

This means new ME3 squaddies, and at least some new LIs.

Don't really find myself caring too much for late comers, just give me the ME1 LIs, Miranda, some fun non-squad options (possibly Gianna, Shiala, a returning Kelly?) and me and my various Shepards will be all set on that front. The epic plot will be the main selling point for ME3 in any case. It better not be another "short story collection" like ME2 was...

Just thought I'd try something new. I wish the images didn't come out so grainy when they're uploaded.

I made a smaller version now:

Hmm, ugly blue border around the image when directly linking it to group created by IE...think I'll just put a link to the group under the image for my sig.

Yum... is it sad and pathetic that I almost wouldn't want to wake up from that? Probably, so I'm well over my quota for the day.

I don't know, I kind of feel depressed...when I think of Yvonne....I know, I'm pathetic...can't stop thinking about her. It's even affecting my schoolwork, and this never happened to me before. This is sad....I'm a damn shameful loser.

Sorry don't mean to weird anyone out =/

Hey, you're not a loser. And I don't think you could weird us out after everywhere this thread has already been.

I know what you mean though. I'm on the second season of Chuck and I just feel so depressed for some reason. Why can't Chuck and Sarah get together already?? And why do I care so damn much? And why am I suddenly obsessed with everything Yvonne Strahovski?

It's because she is a fantastic actor and that her character on Chuck has a lot of similarities with her character in Mass Effect.

In regards to squadies making a comeback in ME3 - I think all the LI are shoe-ins, to be honest. Especially with Miranda's proclamation to TIM about leaving Cerberus.

Where else is she going to go? She's confessed her love to you and left the company that has helped her for so long - for you.

If they make her a cameo, I'm not playing ME3. Flat out.

Rathias, I am once again forced (not really) to agree with you completely.

And Shin, I've been feeling like that ever since Miranda said she would have put a chip in my Shepard's head if she was in charge. Now that's wierd........

But yeah, I didn't even know who Yvonne was before playing the game, and hell, here I am with a huge crush on her.

I think that the first steps to recovery are acceptance and time. Accept that you like her a lot and accept that you'll never have her. Then time will do it's job........

Well, the will-they-or-won't-they-be-back is one of the most commonly discussed issues on this forum (and there's no need to rehash it yet again here). Personally, I think Bioware intentionally left it somewhat ambiguous to drive speculation and raise interest (And quite possibly force the different fan communities into gladiatorial death combat for the honor of appearing in ME3.)

I put both versions on the front page, in case someone wants a big banner. (Something that says "I own this room....I own *you*...")

One thing that has always puzzled me about this screenshot. The only time I recall that incident occurring is on her loyalty mission when you come out of the lift right near the end so... how is she wearing her lovely black outfit there?

Not saying anything wrong with it and obviously I know that they can fiddle things and such, just seemed a bit weird.

You are correct sir! I guess they just wanted to show off Miranda's sexy alt outfit in the clip.

Well go on then, Despite being a tali/Liara fanboy....

After getting to know her and talking to her etc....doing her loyalty quest, Miranda is a suprisingly complex character that I do like a lot :)

During the loyalty mission with Jack - it's painfully obvious THAT specific Cerberus cell had gone rogue and began conducting experiments behind the Illusive Man's back.

Never read the books,right??
Nothing went rogue. The illusive man has the control. He was the one who ordered to slaughter the quarians, not a single cell. What was Mirandas answer to this:"This was nothing personal".
How dumb a person could be??
