Also, I hate this "she needs a better man then I" comment, Jacob sounds so Beta Dog saying it. This being the Miranda thread, we've focused most of this conversation around Miranda--it's possible Jacob just didn't ultimately have the self confidence to think things would work out with Miranda. (Other squadmates comments on Jacob: "He doesn't know who he is," and "Events will either destroy him or forge him into a great man" seem to support this.) That + Miranda's fear of emotional intimacy + Lazarus Project eating up all her time...I can see how the relationship ended.

Who says this?

Also, it's sort of strange you can ask Jacob about their relationship, but not Miranda.

Jack="He doesn't know who he is."
Samara="Events will either destroy him or forge him into a great man."
They both have comments on Miranda, too.
Jack="Miranda is a Cerberus ****, I knew that when I first saw her."
Samara="I have to respect her strength." (Samara seems pretty on the fence about Miranda, IMO, like she doesn't really like her, but with hundreds of years of experience in social situations, she can damn well come up with SOMETHING positive to say.)

And yes, it is weird that Miranda doesn't say anything about their relationship. I wonder if she interjects if you're FemShep? Need to check this.

Yeah, it's worth pointing out that Jacob has some issues of his own. Though he's still one of the most normal, healthy, and stable squadmates. (Except maybe Tali.)

I know gaming forums are not a good place to dispense love advice, but if you look at a girl and think "she deserves someone better then me," odds are YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET THAT GIRL.

While it's a good idea..

I just don't know if it's right. No man is going to be cool to the person who stole his chances with a beautiful woman. Take Chuck for example - when Bryce stole his girl. I don't think Jacob would easily forgive Shepard for that.

I think it was a small one time thing - and I think Jacob ultimately realized that he was just not the man that Miranda needed. He doesn't have the qualities that she desires - and he says voices that.

I like to think that accomplished professional adults in their late twenties/early thirties can handle the situation with some maturity and lack of drama. And Jacob seems to say that the relationship's dead if you ask him about it, and seems to be saying, "if you want that ice queen, you're welcome to TRY."

Also, I hate this "she needs a better man then I" comment, Jacob sounds so Beta Dog saying it. I agree with your second part. The whole portion of him saying "she deserves a better man than I" comment really drives home that.. well, she does - and he's acting pathetic. Again, reinforcing that he wasn't even close to the kind've man she needed outside of her work.

Shepard gives her the whole package. They both share some qualities - mainly, like I said earlier, the rough childhood, etc - and they both know when they need to focus and get the mission done.

Well there always has to be someone in your crew that just fails..................... it just happens to be Jacob

Off for a while, possibly the night. And I may or may not be drunk when I come back tomorrow... stupid dentist appointment. Don't usually have problems, but I hate modern medicine with a passion.

I'm actually suprised I haven't seen any response from BW yet about romance DLC's or whatever. Maybe they've got something big in the works and don't want to reveal anything. They did say that ME2 would recieve a lot of support until ME3.

Anyway as for Miranda I exausted a lot of dialog with her. Extremely captivating when she opens up to you. Unfortunately there aren't too many convos you can have with her :(

Well, game's been out like two weeks. So I'm not surprised they haven't announced any DLC yet.

And I notice you exhaust convos with any character pretty quickly if you do their loyalty mission early. (Part of why I was hanging out with Thane so much at the end of the game, I had waited until almost last to do his loyalty mission, lol.)

Who knows what kind of DLC bioware is working on, whatever it is Bioware probably started working on it before the ME2 realease date.

Well judging by the amelioration of the LI system from ME1 to ME2, I assume it's safe to say Bioware is interested in the mechanic and in the fanbase's support of it (which is HUGE). For sure they got something bigger planned, DLC or in the next game. (hoping the former!)

It isn't working.

I tried to be all cool with a custom avatar, and so far it's only succeeded in messing up my glorious dwarven beard. Hopefully Bioware Social will sort it out. I'm pretty I can fix it by playing a little DAO and get my old avatar back...though I spent entirely too much effort sizing my hoped-for new one properly, lol.

Well, I paid 5 dollar for Return to Ostagar, which lasts 30-45 minutes...but I can play it again on each DAO playthrough.

Character-specific DLC is really tough...I might pay 5 dollars for DLC for some LIs, but not others. And I don't know how much I would pay for a "romance pack", which would include lots of content for LIs I don't have and the price would have to reflect that.

I'm man enough to admit that my purchasing decision would depend a lot on it including the Miranda cocktail dress costume.
