Who said the scene wasn't well done? I thought the scene was incredibly well done.

It's possible, though, for it to be intimate without being necessarily meaningful. This is what I meant - that I wanted it to be more meaningful. The only thing they'd've needed to do to accomplish this is put in some dialogue leading up to the scene. They wouldn't need to change anything at all, besides that.

I really like Miranda. I think she is one of the most interesting characters interms of her background and story. There is still a lot more to figure out about her. I really want to find out who her dad is, see what happens to her sister, and see how Cerebus treats her after she sided with the paragon shep. Theres still a lot to uncover about her and I would be highly disappointed if she didn't return.

The more I think about it, the more I think the Miranda's romance cold have benefited from two versions of the love scene, a la Jack. The current version seems geared more to a Shepard who does just want to get Shepard into bed. My Shepard went out of his way to be as romantic and tender as the dialogue allowed, and I want a love scene that reflects that. *debates whether to rewrite scene fo fanfic*

I agree with this about as much as anyone can agree with anything.

They kind of made it seem like a sex fling. I agree, they should've let you make it deeper.

I disagree. Both Shepard and Miranda had clearly expressed their fellings for each other in the conversations leading up to the decision to be together. No need to repeat what had already been clearly shown. These aren't juveniles who need constant reassurance.

I like the way the scene unfolded. This was an encounter between two adults who clearly loved each other and didn't feel the need to constantly say it. They felt it, deeply.

Actions speak much louder than words, and by all the gods of all the pantheons, their actions spoke.

PS: I agree with Rathias. The subtle gesture that is the "tummy grab" speaks volumes of the tenderness Shepard feels towards Miranda, and her subsequent head turn is it's equal.

Actions speak louder than words, my friend. :P

Personally, I think any dialogue during that scene would've ruined it - and the dialogue regarding the engine room being cleared and five minutes, etc.. that was good enough for me, to be honest.

Well, I'm of two minds about it.

On the one hand, it has great cinematic presentation. I love the little "hey, you" hand push, the wink, and the little tummy hug. And the unzipping of the 'future blouse' that the ESRB warned us about. And Miranda's model doesn't suffer from the severe head/rest-of-model disconnect at the neck Jacob's has (part of it is lighting, part of it is the choker), and her model is much more impressively rendered then the ME1 LI. (The little moles were a nice touch.) So, from a technical perspective, I give it an A or A+.

My criticism of it is that it's entirely non-interactive. You just have one more dialogue wheel of do-you-or-don't-you go to the engine room. How much better would it have been if the tummy hug had been a paragon interrupt, or an aggressive kiss a renegade interrupt? It would've been nice to have one or two more lines of Serious Feeling conversation--"I settle for nothing but the best" is flirty and fun, but I can see why some people think the scene itself conveys a 'one-night-stand' feel. (You have to take the romance as a whole to get more out of it.) The time to work this in would've been the 'afterglow'. Gaming is an interactive medium, there should be at least a little interaction in the love scene.

Thanks for your support! I personally think they're going to tie up all the loose ends for Cerberus in major DLC before ME3, but it's clear that they have lots more story to tell with Miranda. WHich, more then anything, augers well for her return.

I agree that the love between Shep and Miri is true and developed up through the romance scene. The dialog up to that point was flawless and you could clearly see that Shepard and Miranda were meant for each other. This certainly is not a fling, or else Miranda would not be concerned about Shepard's death, which clearly Miranda demands Shepard live through the suicide mission. Miranda even abstains from bedding with Shepard initially, saying "When I'm ready, I'll come by ok?". Clearly the emotions of Shepard and Miranda ring true romance.

On that note, while the dialog leading through the romance was fantastic, I believe there could be more, hopefully in the form of DLC. There have been many people asking for this, but I for one can wait until ME3 to continue the romance with Miri if BW doesn't decide to release DLC regarding furthering relationships.

Bravo BioWare.

It would've been much, MUCH better the way you just described it. Interaction heightens almost everything in a game, I was sorry they didn't include it here.

It's just that for me, a romance scene should be a summation and a climax of everything that the relationship has contained up until now. Jack's was - the paragon love scene was a perfect representation of her struggling feelings. Miranda's scene didn't really do that as much, though.

...wondering if everyone on the thread knows my joke about scanning planets yet...

Maybe I need a pic of the mineral scanning screen and write, "When you're scanning planets, Shepard's getting nookie."

what he said. I wanted more interactivity. I think an afterglow conversation would have done wonders, and a post-game convo. Maybe a callback to promising.not promising that you'll survive.

And now I really have to go. Miranda and this thread keep pulling me back in. -_-

This.

Nitpick: The interrupt system would be kind of hard in that situation since you cant have two simultaneous interrupts.

Well, there's areas in the game where you have an opportunity for one, then the other. Like right away when you meet Veekor, there's a Renegade interrupt option to yell at him (or even punch him?) to get his attention, and if you resist that you get a Paragon option to deactivate the sensors he's so focused on with your omnitool. Or when you meet the reporter again, you can punch her out, but if you resist, you get a paragon option for a pretty bad-ass speech that felt a lot truer to my Captain America ManShep.

I think that's about the 3rd or 4th time I've heard it :D

I just spent like, 30 minutes catching up on posts I missed. That's what I get for working immediately after school on a Friday.

Anyways, I really liked Miranda/Shep's scene of fornication. Originally, I was disappointed by the lack of dialog wheel, but I've since realized it captures the tone of Miranda's romance plot really well. There's a lot of passion, lust, and emotion. They had already talked it out, and they'd decided what they were going to do.

You actually just shoot one of Veetor's computer screens in the Renegade interrupt.
