Yeah i chose the other one at that stage, I think that is the next conversation after the cheeky kiss conversation and am now on the one after that which am guessing is the last one before the romance scene seeing as I've just gone up and spoke to her twice in a row without doing anything else and she just keeps repeating that line about us being crazy and wanting to confirm Shep still interested.

Plan for this playthrough is for just Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed (and Kasumi) to survive, with final battle party of loyal Miranda and non-loyal Jack, with the others on defence duties. I reckon Jacob and Zaeed could be fine on their own but was really hoping for Kasumi to be involved in it and not just some post-mission add-on :/ but I want to experience the mira-mance so am tempted to push on hehe

You have to admit the upgrade she did give you. Stupid scanning minigame.

One of the things that disappointed me in ME2 was how little your background affected the story. I'd love for a Sole Survivor to have some choice words for Miranda, since Cerberus was responsible for the major trauma of his life. Maybe even have her indirectly responsible because she sent a message suggesting the acid would make a good bioweapon. Cue a "my God what have I done" moment that sets up her leaving Cerberus.

Thoughts?

This could be interesting. However, I feel their relationship was based more on who they are now and who they're trying to become rather than who they were.

Besides, I'm sure a lot more people would have disliked Miranda if she had been in any way responsible for Akuze or something. But I can definitely see a scenario where Miranda asks him about it and feels terrible about what happened even though she had nothing to do with it.

Oh, no doubt. I just think Miranda's character arc could have been improved by forcing her to realize the bad elements in Cerberus aren't just those people over there. If nothing else, having her complicit in Akuze or similar would make for some excellent drama. And if Shep is romancing her, but chose to shoot Wayne and take vengence...  *files away bunny*

Ok, I just finished watching the Chuck pilot and I have something to say.

I never again want to hear anyone complain about Miranda using high heels in combat or any other situation.

If you people watch the Chuck pilot and pay attention, you'll see Yvonne running really fast in these awesome very high heel stiletto boots that make Miranda's heels seem extremely conservative. I was stunned (and fell in love).

So Miranda is clearly based on Yvonne in that regard and no one has any reason to complain about it.

Well, or being able to mention Akuze at all...it's a little akward on my "Queen **** of the Universe" Renegade FemShep, who is Sole Survivor/Colonist, having all these Renegade options that are pro-Cerberus. (But there are also plenty of "**** off Cerberus, I don't report to ANYONE!" Renegade options, so it works out alright.)

Actually, I think it would be more interesting to have Jacob be involved with some prior Cerberus Atrocity. Just because at the beginning, he's immediately more warm to Shepard then Miranda. And it would give his character a lot more depth.

So I just caught up on my reading in this thread, and I noticed the part where some random troll decided that starting a flame war between here and the Talifans. I'm very proud that we all hit that with the Paragon interrupt.

I think it really speaks very highly of this fan community that we didn't rise to the flame-bait. The different fan communities have a lot more in common simply by coming into this forum and geeking out over their favorite character then which character that is. The fact that there are communities over lots of characters if proof that Bioware has been able to create lots of compelling characters, and will hopefully be able to give all characters the resolution and payoff in ME3 they deserve, and that the fanbase wants. It also speaks highly of the Tali fan-base that several of them came over here to post that a flame war was completely stupid, and not in anyone's interest.

(someone should edit in Ashley, Liara, Jack, et al to this, but I felt this was a special occasion.)

Miranda strikes me as a downer to a squad in a long run. Just like Jack she has a lot of emotional baggage that has to be dealt with for her to reach her true potential. Who really wants a woman who has no faith in herself or her abilities and blames everything on her father and resents who she is because her father made her that way?

She seems more like a whiny 16 yr old teenager than a cerberus officer to me. A cold calculating killer of a whiny teenager but still an insecure teenager.

that's life- EVERYONE has baggage! that's what makes her a good character.

you want she should just excel at everything and not have to try and just be perfect?

Boring! A slight bit of life drama is good for the soul.

and ps... a downer to the squad? oh hell no. obviously you never used her in your squad... warp and overload? hell yeah!!

To quote one of my favorite lines from ME1..."Everyone has baggage, you just need a pair that matches." A big part of Miranda's appeal is that she's mature and confident, and yet willing to share her vulnerability with Shepard. At no point in the story does she come off as anything other then smart and superlatively capable. (...she did bring Shepard back from the dead.)

I also think you're dramatically overstating her insecurity. She certainly doesn't lack confidence in her abilities; in fact, her problem is that she defines herself PRIMARILY through her (extraordinary) abilities. It's also inaccurate to say she resents who she is; it would be more accurate to say she doesn't value who she is, because her achievements feel unearned. (It's up to Shepard to point out the obvious, that your achievements and abilities don't matter as much as what you do with them.)

Didn't we go through a phase of Dr. House being Miranda's father?

Which makes this even more creepy.
