I'm sure they'll do fine with FF13, it is their 'premiere' video game franchise afterall... but at the end of the day it'll likely be based on a reluctant hero who picks up a sword and somehow gains magical powers... /sigh.

Although, this time it is a woman as the lead, and we haven't had a woman in the lead (really) since FF5 or something (the one with the amnesiac). No Yuna doesn't count from FFX-2...

Not a character poll this time, but a poll about what kind of ME-related merchandise you'd like to see from Bioware.

I'm hoping Miranda is the 'token human' in their 'second wave' of ME action figures. (The first wave is Shepard, Grunt, Tali, and Thane.)

They have to make Garrus...

Yeah, I'm thinking Miranda, Garrus, and Liara. (They need an Asari, and Liara's being pretty marketed atm with the comic. But a Samara action figure would LOOK cool, so I dunno.)

And who for No. 4? Someone else from ME2, I think. Legion is one of the best character designs in the game IMO, so probably him.

It's possible they could do FemShep instead of Miranda.

No, remember according to all promotional materials of the game, femshep doesn't actually exist...

They have FemShep avatars. But you're right, they don't use FemShep to promote the game, and they don't have a female face model like they have with VanderShep. Which is sorta unfair, and why I'd be fine with a FemShep action figure instead of Miranda. (And I consider my custom-made ManShep my 'personal canon' Shepard.)

Speaking of which, Arijharn, you changed Avatars JUST as I was clicking on this thread, lol. "Assuming control."

Femshep voice acting is better too. It's a shame.

Femshep is soo not better its yelled at you at the wrong time, cold sounding or over acted.<no i dont want to start that debate im just sick of hear femshep is better when thier both do good jobs just one over acts a bit and can sometimes wreck a good moment>

And on that note I need to also add huge support to having Miranda back in ME3 as maybe one of the best characters Bioware has made in one of their games, with alot of story told and alot more that could be told still. Great character, great loyal mission<maybe my favorite that or tali's> and best romance in ME so far.

Hard for me to compare, because I only ever played the German version of ME1. But improved or not, the femShep voice comes across as more authentic, less deadpan, in most situations. The German ME2 maleShep is a bit better than the English - sounds not quite as old and less deadpan - but because everyone else is better in English I'm playing that version. That's not to say any voice acting in ME2 is bad - only different levels of good with some sparsely distributed not so good situations.

(Hmm. perhaps I should try French with subtitles. Just to hear how it sounds, not that I could understand anything. It's great having the choice of 6 languages, even if you don't understand most of them. Miranda I'm curious how she sounds in French)

Deutsch macht spass!

But seriously, I'm really surprised that they used different German VAs, rather then the same VA. For movies, I know that they often dub famous actors using the same VA for each movie.

there was never really a moment that I thought to myself in ME2, 'shepard's VA sounds bad or not believable', so I think he did a good job, just not great.
Miranda had great voice acting though

I can only think of 2 lines off the top of my head where Meer sounded off. The first is at the start of the game when you end the first conversation with Jacob and he says "let's get out of here!" I always think that line sounds like something an 80s action hero would say.

The other, of course, is "oh, I'm definitely interested!"

But for the most part I thought he did a very good job in ME2, especially when he changes his tone during Tali's loyalty mission.

Yeah, the Tali loyalty mission was well-done overall. And the Paragon speech to the Admiralty Board was freaking awesome.

On the subject of big speeches...I remember Miranda gave me a "Well said" comment when I did the big Paragon speech before riding into the valley of death in the final mission. I'm wondering if she always says that, or if it's random, or what.

(Man, we pick apart every mechanic in this game...)

That's probably true valttu, but we aren't trying to beat anybody. We're just showing our support for Miranda.

I think Miranda always says that Com, but if you like we can pretend she was just in awe of your Shepards epic speech!

She probably doesn't say it if you don't give a speech!

And it was nice to have Shepard stand up and be the dramatic center of attention like that. One huge advantage of having a voiced player character. (Alistair's this-man-is-a-dwarf speech in DAO was great, though.)

I forgot you could opt out of the speech! As for the this-man-is-a-dwarf speech I never heard that because I never finished either of my Dwarven playthroughs.

Admiral Andrew Cunningham heard Field Marshal Montgomery was by the thread the other day, and ****ed if he was going to let the British Army out-do the Royal Navy in supporting Miranda.

Posted Image That makes me think, am I  the only Brit in this thread? I like to think there are more but i'm not reading many British-isms in the last 200 pages. Posted Image
