It's difficult no matter what Shepard you use, in my opinion. Your Shepard might not have the same path of logic as my Shepard - etc, etc.

Shepard
for extravehicular activities, slide to a sitting position, hands
resting on the head leaned - he, g - Joker and the radius of the press
felt deeply EDI Normandy to get a boat explosion and fill the power of
the collector taking breath on his chest. As he looked at the exit door - he could not help it, you realize how lucky you were.
They are going to say it is from there it was - but they did. It was a suicide mission - but lived. If luck, skill, or that the shepherd had been purely to help the team get to live with him in his place. They should have made it - but they did.
Open
the airlock door hissed - and, in the doorway, standing blood Blot
Miranda - who was lucky enough to cover her white clothes separate the
method of notification.
She said, "Are you okay He raised his eyebrows."
He got up beside him, grabbed his body erupted in pain sensation. He saw a hand, and his realization of his suit had been ruptured and was bleeding everywhere.
He
Miranda, she worried look on his face, she immediately looked at his
bloody hands, "We have to reach clinics - on the face looked to be
coming now."
Shepard, and his blurred vision to take a step forward - he stumbled into the arms of Miranda. He looked up at her, tears started to form in the second.
"Miranda ..."
".. Please do not me, the shepherd will not - promise!"
He reached up, touched her cheek, smirking, "I know ... so sorry ..."
We
had started the tears flowing freely now, her words of protest "and,
no, no, no - I can, damnit I can not lose is if not now!"
He
has to stand up straight, while she put a kiss at the end of all his
power, staring into the ashes of her deep blue eyes, he said, "I,
Miranda, I love you," murmured
He last saw his most precious in the world is one thing - he was overtaken in the dark as was the face with a smile.
He is a cry for help to her, holding her hand in his faded.

I have to agree. If you write a Mass Effect story Shepard has to be Shepard. Writing about your Shepard who thinks about his time on Earth won't resonate with the people who chose a Spacer Shepard.
The thing is - what defines the "true" Shepard? The default one? Or your's?

That's a good point. I wouldn't mind reading about someone else's Shepard, but in the end I think mine is better sadly. Though I have read some great ME stories based on player created Shepards. So I think it is a fine line to walk.

Just leave it ambiguous. Surely someone can write a decent fanfic without delving into Shepard's pre-service history and military accomplishments (other than the obvious ones).
That's actually a lot harder than you might think.
Shepard's past ultimately helped shape his future.
A Sole Survivor understands what it means to go into the mouth of death - and walk out alone.
A ruthless might - but not to the same degree.
A War Hero might - but not to the same degree.
How could an earthborn know what life living in space is? Or what is was like growing up with parents? There are so many emotional things tied to Shepard's past that to live it ambigious would be too difficult.

That hopefully is the line I'm walking in he current ME fanfic I'm writing. Sort of just took the cannon Shepard, and tweaked him here and there. I dwell a little about his time as a spacer, and just a little look back at his war hero moment.

Which makes sense but its weird since we're all fans and we all name our Shepard something different - so it's weird when you see him/her being referred to as something different.
Anyway, I'll see about posting a one shot or something to contribute to the less than one page Miranda fanfiction cache.

I have been meaning to finish this one story I was writing but I do have a few Mass Effect ideas concerning Shepard and Miranda, only oddity is when people give Shepard a first name.

Yeah. Especially because Shepard is never referred to by his/her first name, I find it strange when authors make the choice to just have it start happening. I barely even associate my Shepard's first name at all with the character. I always figured he'd been referred to as "Shepard" ever since his childhood on Earth.

The only thing that I liked about her is the accent and she does look beautiful.
There's one thing I noticed about her though, she has the most realistic human face in the whole game which is kind of eerie. A pity that so far ME hasn't really had any interesting human companions. I'll take aliens over them any day.

I personally didn't like her. She seemed too much like a Cereberus fanatic and I don't like Cereberus either.

Probably because the face was a facial scan of her VA, Yvonne Strahovski. Get to know the character a little more and she'll seem less and less of a Cerberus fanatic, even going as far as to resign from Cerberus at the conclusion of the game provided she's in your team for the human-reaper fight and you elect to destroy the Collector base rather than leave it intact.
EDIT: I'll agree that in ME Ash and Kaidan weren't exactly overly interesting, but then neither was Tali. Kaidan was there to tell you about the life of a human biotic to give you some context on what biotics are and how they came about.
Tali took that to a whole other level. If you needed XP or felt you were missing a codex entry somewhere then it was a safe bet to go talk to Tali because she was there to be a walking, talking codex filling you up with codex entries on the Geth and the Quarians. Not exactly interesting if you ask me.
Garrus was like your protégé so he was quite often asking questions as well as telling you the odd C-Sec tale. Wrex was interesting to talk to because he always had a story to tell, mostly amusing tales from a Krogan's point of view.
