@Snake - Thanks!
Writing fanfiction using game characters has always been difficult for me, especially for games where the characters have such rich histories and are almost fully fleshed out. It's so difficult to try and stay true to the character and not take too many liberties.

Also, I stated in my Author's Note that Shepard will still be influenced by his past. There really is no way around that. I'm trying not to shut down other people's view of Shepard, but mine will come out mentally tough. The dialogue will be a mix of Paragon/Renegede depending on the people/situation. Damn near all major story choices however is Paragon.

Same for my fanfiction - the Shepard I'm using is my Shepard, the default one, pretty much - but with my own personal viewpoints, etc.

@Sleepy - But it was ultimately her personality that reeled it in, was it not? For some people, looks mean absolutely nothing to them. They'd rather have someone at the same psychological level as them and look like a 4 than date someone who looks like Yvonne with the IQ of a 3rd grader.
When I'm talking about physical attractiveness, I don't mean they have to look like models. I mean that they have to be attractive to you. Others might think they're ugly, but you don't.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
And as I said, Miranda's attitude and personality was what made me really love the character, but I was initialy attracted by her looks.
To contrast this, I liked Ashley's and Liara's looks, but their personalities didn't do much for me. Same with Jack, who I like (but have no interest in romancing) and thought she was the one I might romance since her face reminds me of Natalie Portman. So I don't spent almost any time talking about them in forums, unlike dear Miranda.

The perception of the womanly as it pertains to clothing is a cultural convention. Having said that, I like things stylish, and really like women wearing skirts. But you need something practical for combat. There's almost nothing I find more jarring in stories than things where I can't suspend my disbelief enough to accept them. I almost cringe every time I'm forced to look at Miranda's boots. Not because they're ugly or I don't like them, but because they're so totally impractical for the occasion. I can almost see the enemy laughing their heads off for humans being stupid enough to dress for combat in a way that prevents running for anyone but the extremly agile.Maviarab wrote...
Yeah they not exactly sci-fi or right for the envirmoment but meh....who cares....dig girls in heels lol
Too many women are becoming men in my opinion, I like a woman to be womanly, hell if I wanted her to look like a bloke I'd go out with a bloke, I want a woman to be a woman (maybe old fashioned and 'slightly' sexist I admit, but the way I am), so bring on the heels

Hell, for all we know, that suit could be made of fibers stronger than titanium - able to withstand any enemy fire trying to penetrade it. It might also be lined with fibers that give her shields, etc. It might amplify her biotic powers.
If you want to get technical about armor, then explain to me why anyone would dare go into a firefight without some sort of head protection?
Regarding the heels, some people can perform in them - some can't.

I admit things like this are something of a pet peeve for me. I'm firmly in the school of thought "In SF, only use non-realism where necessary". Obviously, an SF universe like ME's needs a few technological miracles to make spaceflight easy and a few other things. Obviously, an action story needs a lot of stunts and larger-than-life heroes regardless of realism. Without it, it would be a lot less enthralling. Less obviously, enough people are thrilled by interspecies romance that it's included in most space opera stories, although I have said enough about what I think of it and its nonexisting biological basis in my (perhaps slightly notorious) rant on the old forurms. But in little things like footwear, where one isn't constrained by necessity or public demand, it's so totally jarring to see the impractical combined with a cultural convention that isn't even 100 years old, and in an SF universe of all things. If nothing else, I'd accuse the artists of having too little imagination.andysilv87 wrote...
On the subject of the heels, I like them. Yes they aren't practical and it's a bit unrealistic the way she races around in them but I think they fit her character. She's confident in her body and appearance and the heels just radiate sexiness. The exact look she's going for, it's part of what makes her Miranda.
And don't even get me started on the Terminator...
Sorry. I did say it was a pet peeve, didn't I?

BTW, has anyone purchased the Loyalist poster? How is it and how was it packaged? I was thinking of buying it but I'm worried that on the way here it might get ruined, since I live in Europe.

@Sleep - I saw - but, there are some individuals out there who care little for the physical attraction and can enjoy themselves a healthy relationship just through the emotional connection they have with their loved one.
It might be possible, but to me that's a friendship. It might be very deep, but still just a friendship.
I see romantic relationships as a whole. Your partner is your best friend and also the person you want to have physical intimate contact because you're attracted to them.
Having just one of the parts doesn't work for me. As the drell would say, the romantic relationship would become Disconnected.
